Thank you Byrone for keeping this place running. However, I won't be able to pay since I'd have to run it by my parents and they would never agree to such a thing. This sucks.

For starters, i believe it is a joke! IT would have been most credible, if the supposed owner wasnt a master mind pro teaser/joker, like Byrone!

In the highly unlikely case this... situation... is real!
Here are my views about it:

-20$/year is far too much for such a big forum, the fee should either be smaller or have a much bigger grace time. Seriously, does this forum really needs 20k/year, just to survive?? I really dont buy that, but i will believe that if i see some proof of it!

-It is totally unrealistic to expect form each and every member to pay that, or even any kind of sum.
We should better aim for a certain amount and make a collective effort to gather it!
I think this is a much more balanced idea and practically more efficient.
(as we need to reach the minimum fee anyway and dont have to worry about that, when we reach that, so we wont have to part with the members they cant afford it)
Some members may have the financial capability to donate more and make up for the others, who may lack that capability!
For ex, i m willing to pay the asked fee for this site, but this site wont be the same without members like bianconero81, weedguru, vonam etc etc
Without these members the forum doesnt have the same importance/value for me.
No one guarantees me that these members will stay and although i am willing to pay an annual fee in case they stay, i am not paying/risking it just for the unpropable eventuality, that they will/might stay!

-Juventuz will not be a public forum anymore, but a meeting place for a select group of posters. Its character will be lost. That would mean, that there will be nearly zero new posters and the forum is destined to die out slowly eventually.
I dont believe that there will be people willing to risk 20$ just to try out a football forum and see if they fit in. We have to give them a special motive and guarantee to join in. Even the original juventus.com site/forum faces the same difficulties, despite the fact, that it is the official forum and compensates the subscribers with member cards, autographs, etc

-Lets say i am paying that fee, who guarantees that enough people will pay too, to make that worth smth??
And what happens if we fail to gather the minimum required fee to save the forum.
Are we getting a refund??

-What if we gather enough money to sustain the forum for two-three yeas?
Why do all the new members will have to pay the same annual fee then?

-Dont we have more chances to get some better sponsorship deals now?
Wouldnt that be a more acceptable sacrifice?
Juventuz is a big forum and companies who might want advertising ads, will be interested/attracted by those numbers more than ever.
The annual fee will decimate our numbers, our greatest strength and our market value. We will not be an attractive advertisement carrier anymore...
Weird.

If you really saved the forum from oblivion, thank you.

However, I have a couple of questions/remarks here.

1) If the forum/Marty was really in bad debt, why didn't Marty contact us (as in all/most of us) to ask someone to take care of it, like when Martin sold the forum?

2) How come you knew about the financial problems?

3) Why wouldn't you contact people before buying the forum, so that we could sort out how to make this work with a bunch op people instead of dropping the bomb on us?

4) Will paying members get voting rights? So far the admin could do as he wanted because he was the sole funding source. If we pay, this changes and we have to be given a right to decide on decisions regarding the forum.
4)a. In doing so, we need access to the financial information so that we can decide what would be an appropriate price and what when the forum would be viable without payment again.

5) You talk about "new features". we had #IRC > no success; Torrents > No success; Arcade > no success; VbPlaza > No success; Points > limited success; rep > limited success, mostly used on Hanayuko and JBF.
===> As Seven said: people come to a forum to post.

6) I don't have Paypal. How would I pay you?

7) Why not think about alternative ways of funding?
7)a. Some people would be willing to pay much more than 20$, as a donation, why not use that rather than obligatory payment

7)b. Have you thought of approaching the club for help? They might be interested in hosting the site or give some funding if we make a credible demand. After all, this site has brought many people to buy merchandising, tv subscriptions or go to the stadium, let alone raise the profile of the club internationally.

7)c. Did you approach other football forums, Juventus or not. juventus1897, VS, Xtratime. They have their own financial issues and might want to co-host to reduce costs... hell we could even league up with english fora of other Italian clubs.

7)d. Why not incorporating the forum as a non-profit to provide for more transparency and making donations (which could even be tax-deductible).

7)e. As a member, I don't see a single banner. Why not put some more banners? We'd happily click on them if it generates cash. Hell, we'd even buy things from the advertisers if it's remotely useful (match tickets, merchandising, sportswear, dvd's, games whatever).

8) You're a nice guy, but you're far away in South-Africa. How do we know you wont run away with the money? How do we know a Nigerian scammer didn't hack your account?

9) Why would you, in your sane mind pay a fee to buy over the forum and take over Marty's debts? If the forum dies in a month because everyone leaves, you're screwed. That doesn't sound very logical and doesn't inspire me any confidence as to your managing skills.

10) Will you ban those annoying moving flags?

EDIT:

11) If you're really the owner, why aren't you an admin yet? Why are you a regular poster?
These + Seven's posts pretty much sum up why I wouldn't pay either (if it's true).

Anyway, this is either a very amateuristic take-over plan, or a very elaborate joke.

I'm not reading back through all of this, but what is being said is that by August 17th members have to pay €20 each to post on this forum? LOL.

No I see, blackmail. It's nothing to do with money really, just principles. Soon someone will be taxing me for farting. Paying to express opinion and debate, hmm.

Oh well, it was nice to peruse and post, good luck with the scheme.

There's nothing wrong with paying. If you take a look at Big Soccer Forums, they have tons of members and a huge board that usually works properly. The donations work to keep the board running, and they do a good job at it.

So yes, I wouldn't mind paying, Seven. You shouldn't either.
What a good idea, donations. Do people not donate already?

Seven, you don't have to insult me every time you don't agree with me.

I just don't see a problem with paying a measly sum of 20 Euros per year. That's not even a case of beer FFS.
    That's his MO.

I'm surprised Seven has taken this the hardest. Whoda known he was this attached to this place....Well I knew because no one can be so rude in real life so this is a perfect channel for his behavior. It makes sense that he's upset.

If I really had taken this the hardest I would have paid, no? Oh, and this post is going to bite you in the ass. Because I know something you don't :).

Are you sure you're not the one who is being toyed around here, Ze? :)
