It's not about your 20 dollars. It's about it not being a good idea. Furthermore Byrone expects 16k. That's what 10% of the current members means. You really think that is going to happen? You really think that's what juventuz costs?
well then you need to question Marty about this as well, don't you? You keep on attacking Byrone when you haven't really heard anything from Marty...I for one trust Byrone, he's a good guy and I don't believe he is here to make some scratch

and if we only get 10% of the members to sign on, that will be a great group of loyal members which will definitely improve the overall standard of the forum

Regardless of whether you plan to pay Byrone or not, make sure you have guarantess on that you're actually getting something for your money.

No need to respond or defend yourself against this Byrone but whether you're buying a TV or paying for a forum, you need to do so with some precaution.
Fair enough but if most you read through the announcement carefully you would have noticed that there will be new features to come into effect.I dont expect people to pay just to post. There will be reward for those that pay.I dont want to jump the gun & mention what will come through but what i can say is that, i will conclude the negotiations to implement those features as early as next week monday.

So everybody can judge me once i implement those new added features

Oh is that so? Well FUCK your document. You want to get 16k from us without telling us what the whole thing costs. You expect us to give you 16 000 dollars without any guarantees whatsoever? And then you want me to thank you? Dear God, this is ludicrous. It must be a joke.
Refer to my post above, Andries.

- Marty never demanded anything from us and hence there's no real reason to question him.

- There's a difference between intelligent members and loyal members. Many of our best posters have been here for a very short time, and some have been here for many years. We wouldn't have such diversity if one had to pay from the beginning.

Eventually, these "loyal" members will tire and the forum will die.

I don't need to hear from anyone. Byrone says it costs 16 000 dollar a year to run this forum and he says Marty paid this himself.

I don't trust Byrone. He's some guy on the internet. Some guy on the internet has ripped off a lot of people in the past. He is giving us no guarantees whatsoever. Hell, we could even be banned after paying 20 dollars!

And yeah, you'll get your elite forum. Great. You'll miss out on new members and eventually the forum will die.

Do the mods have to pay 20 dollars as well?

i personally wouldnt want someone to pay for a forum for me though thats the point, i would be forced to leave, who do you expect to join a forum that requires you to pay? im with andries a forum is something that is ment to be free, byrone this will never work. may i ask what kind of financial situation is this forum in, how much does it cost per month/year to run a forum?

is the forum in debt? i dont want to sound stingy, i just see it this way.
Yes it is bro,i kinda went over it in the announcement.Read through it carefully, please.:)

I meant in the sense the high cost that Marty was facing in running the forum...and as for the members getting tired of it, look at yourself and guys like JCK and Azzurri7, you've been around for such a long time now, have you gotten tired of it yet?

There are times when I've lost interest in this place, yes. Studies in autumn AND being forced to pay for it might just be that final nail in the coffin.
