No its just to honor the US bonds and contribution to the foundation of the state
Seriously its really hard for new country to find some decent flags, i bet the American trend will be very popular in the next 3 decades, but i have to notice that blue and red colors are over-abused. Seriously half of the world's flags have one of those two colors...

but you have to find a way to express your identity and differentiate it from the others, just think about!
Lets presume that you have inherited a small island in the pacific ocean, an island without natives, just plants snakes, an island that doesnt belong to any country and you chose to become an king, make your own taxes and insurance system and call it the Martin-land Now all its left is choosing a flag that n one has ever used before and that would be original and inspire respect.
You cant pick anymore, lines, stripes, crosses, two headed eagles, stars, moon, some certain combinations of colors etc etc You will see how difficult it is then!
