I didn’t see it but I take your word. Then again a lot of shit has been reported/flying about.
Anyways, on to Sarri. Should it be him I seriously wouldn’t mind. Not my first choice but like I’ve said in the past, I trust our board. Sarri has his own identity. And I like managers like him who want to play the game and go for the win. All this talk about being crap defensively. So why is it that both Barca and Real have won CL? by playing the game and grabbing it by the throat. Yes I get that we’ll get exposed at times but I’m sure we’ll get it right. I’m willing to give him a shot. I’m not talking about “fancy football” but I want to play as a team. We’ll have more chance in winning the CL with Sarri than other Italian in charge and that I’m sure about. We’ve been wasting our talent sitting back instead of finishing teams off. We need to beat the old Italian style out of us to progress in Europe.
Real under Zidane played very pragmatic football, based on being solid at the back and controlling games through the midfield with a dominant set of CMs, and then being ruthless up front. They were anything but some all-out attacking team. They were also very tactically versatile, playing possession based football at times, ceding possession and playing on the counterattack at others.
Barcelona has failed time and again in Europe since the Pep era because they can't defend. They managed to overcome it once, in 14-15 by having Messi-Suarez-Neymar in scintillating form and just outscoring everyone, but they have failed every year since, because they can't keep the ball out of their net.
To the second bolded bit. Allegri had us 1-1 in the second half of two different CL finals in his first 3 years. Sure, it didn't work out from there, but that's about as close as it gets without winning it. So no Sarri is not some certainty of giving us a better chance to win CL. At Napoli he failed miserably in CL in his best year there, losing 4 of 6 group stage games, including to Shaktar and Feyenoord and dropping into Europa League where he was embarrassed by RB Leipzig.
It's obviously possible Sarri could figure it out here, but his past results suggest nothing to be sure about in Europe, thus far.
