Juventus Look For Defensive Reinforcements
Juventus have singled out which defenders they plan to bring in when the transfer window reopens in January.
zoom - galleria Lokomotiv Moscow defensive stalwart Branislav Ivanovic and Aston Villa standout Olaf Mellberg are on the top of Juve’s wish-list in January according to TuttoSport.
The team’s directors are struggling with which defender to bring to Turin though, as Ivanovic will cost at least 15 million due to a minimum release clause in his contract, while Mellberg can be brought in on a free transfer if they wait until the end of the season.
Ivanovic who is only 23, has tremendous potential and is coveted by many other of the big clubs in Europe, while Melberg is 30, but a grizzly veteran who can provide some leadership and stability in the heart of the defence.
Names like Palermo’s Andrea Barzagli and Villarreal’s Martin Caceres have also been tossed around as possible signings but it looks as if the directors are set on either Ivanovic or Mellberg.
The Juventus directors will have to decide if Ivanovic is worth the investment or if Mellberg is a true bargain.
The big question will be whether they decide to do anything at all in January or wait until June to bring in some defensive help.

Am I the only one annoyed by articles like this that lack any real source, but yet authoritatively say that Juventus is down to Mellberg and Ivanovic?
I know I think Caceres and Mellberg would be mistakes out of those four.
I also think it goes without saying that Juventus are active in January.
