I hate to say it but Samuel would be great in our defence even when he is an Inter player atm.... otherwise i hope we get ivanovic but please no Heitinga
:agree: I would take Barzagli, Ivanovic, Samuel or Alex. They would certainly strength our defense.

PS: Lucio would also be nice, since his contract ends in 2009 and can get him for around €13 million euros. He might like a new challenge and what better club than with Juventus.

Is Ferrari a good deal, we could ignite his career juz like what we did with Cannavaro?

He used to be highly rated until he went roma and everton...

I would say not in the same class as others we could get. Think we need a surefire starter, not take a chance on someone who might be good enough.

Cannot remember the last time Juve faced the lack of quality center backs.
We were so well covered for the last decade, from Montero/Ferrara to Cannavaro/Thuram

Top Italian CB seems to have dried up, the closest seems to be Barzagli. But i personally think he is no Montero, Ferrara, Cannavaro or Thuram

The best bet could well be in our own backyard... Chiellini :D

Our major problem is the injury to Andrade. I think him & Chiellini would be a great partnership. I think Barzagli can easily be better than Montero

Carvalho snubs Old Lady

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho has insisted that he wouldn’t leave Stamford Bridge for Juventus, as the Old Lady continue to search for a stopper. Last week, Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco reportedly asked Chelsea officials about the Portuguese international’s future but left without any assurances. “I have a contract with Chelsea and I have no intention of changing clubs,” revealed the 29-year-old defender. “I have read that Juventus are interested in me, but I have not spoken with anyone. I have a contract with Chelsea for a number of seasons and I have no plans to leave. ”
Hardly a snub IMO, just saying he hasn't spoken to anyone, including us. Sure when Jose signs in June he'll be talking!

hmm ... if considering Montero's liking for being shown yellow and red cards and his latter yrs with Juve, it could well be liability to the team.

However, the aggression shown by the Urguayan is maybe wat our current defense needs.

When Lippi/Moggi got him from Atalanta, in what was a largely unproven player turn out to be a main fixture in Juve for almost 5 - 6 years

Along with Alex & Torricelli, they remained my fav Juve players

Andrade/Chiellini hav not got the chance to partner together in Central, will be interesting to see how they perform though

If a CB is to come in Jan, i will prefer it to be an Italian though ...

You said it yourself...when you come to think of it there are no top italian Cb's anymore..seems like Cannavaro and Nesta are the last.

we need better fullbacks too
molinaro and grygera are not made for a club like juve
id like ivanovic and grosso...they could do it
i disagree with grygera, i think he is a very good player and once he gets more games under belt he'll be a great player.

Molinaro is ok, give him some time...criscito can take that role as well..but i think we need to give this team more time...its a hole new defence which needs time to gel.

After seeing yesterdays match, I think getting a fullback is more important than a CB .

Molinaro, Zebina, Grygera, Birindelli? Not worthy of a big club.

Molinaro is 24, so it's not like he'll improve drastically. He is a limited player, did ok with Siena, but we're Juve.

Zebina, our most decent option for RB. Ok player, but makes mistakes and sometimes loses his temper. I'd play him for now.

Grygera. Decent free transfer, but not a starter in my book. His defending is just enough and he brings nothing forward. Second choice RB...

Birindelli. Respect to a big clubman, he offered us a lot in the past and still has something to offer as a decent versatile solution, but we can't rely on him for 90'. Keep him of course, but play only when needed.

Conclusion?
We do not have a single quality full back. Not on the left nor on the right. That was the biggest difference against Inter. Maicon and Chivu were great to stop Palla and Nedved, and Maicon even got close to goal, whereas Figo and Cesar were very free and no fullback created a chance going forward.

Chiellini must be played in the center. His match of yesterday was a big scream out loud "I'LL RULE THE CENTER!!". Partnered with a smart and calm experienced player (Andrade. Leggro can do until he comes back) he will flourish.

We must buy good LB since Chiellini is taking CB spot and looks like Molinaro sucks. But we also need new RB and that will might be Ivanovic.Any suggestions for LB?i think Del Horno is available for 5-7 milion euros but he`s injury prone.Roma is looking for Urby who`s value is like 7-10 mln, maybe we can steal him from them.

Manuel Pasqual from Fiorentina my choice for a LB.

Also, it would be a dream if Zambrotta came back. We could also consider Zaccardo.
