i was under the impression Criscito was the younger defender in our squad with the bright future. Along with Chiellini playing at centre back, i thought we had enough young defenders.

We need to replace Andrade's experience, if Legrottaglie cannot do this then we need some experience.

We have Chiellini, Molinaro and Criscito....I think this enough young defenders.

After Andrade's injury Juventus are still seeking a defender; the new name could be Independiente 22 year old Carlos Javier Matheu. The argentine club, that values the player around 6 million Euros, has confirmed to have been contacted by Juventus and the player has declared: "I have always dreamed to play in Europe, and I consider Juventus one of the most important clubs in the Europe like Real Madrid and Manchester United"

I think we should buy someone who has or all ready is playing in serie A . We need a cb with experience , preferably serie A experience . Buying an experienced player from england for example is just as good as buying a 19 year old italian cb . Andrade is a great example to learn from , he's a very experienced player but his lack of serie A experience was evident and that lead to many defensive errors that could have been avoided .

Ranieri Rejected Barzagli

Juventus Coach Claudio Ranieri rejected the chance to sign Palermo defender Andrea Barzagli, reports Tuttosport today.

Barzagli has long been linked with the Bianconeri and he was expected to move to Turin for the start of the 2006/07 season.

However the Calciopoli crisis last summer scuppered any chances of a deal and the ex-Chievo defender remained in Sicily. According to the Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini recently offered his star defender to Ranieri but he was turned down.

Juventus are in desperate need of reinforcements in the centre of defence after Jorge Andrade broke his kneecap and will be ruled out for most of the season.

They have been linked with a host of stoppers, including Branislav Ivanovic, Diego Lugano, Luisao, and even Luigi Di Biagio.

The decision of Ranieri to snub Barzagli is puzzling, seeing as he has developed into one of the peninsula’s best defenders over the past 18 months.

The World Cup winner is widely regarded as the long-term centre back of the Azzurri, once the ageing Fabio Cannavaro and Marco Materazzi hang up their boots.

The 26-year-old has filled in superbly for the injured Materazzi recently and put in polished performances in the Euro 2008 qualifiers against France, Ukraine and Georgia.

Carvalho Turns Down Juve :(

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho has revealed he has no intention of moving to Serie A to sign for Juventus.

The Portuguese star is believed to be a transfer target for the Bianconeri as they search for a top-class centre back.

Last week, Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco held a series of meetings with Chelsea officials to discuss possible future transfers and one of the names that cropped up was Carvalho.

“I have a contract with Chelsea and I have no intention of changing clubs,” the 29-year-old told the Daily Mirror.

“I have read that Juventus are interested in me but I have not spoken with anyone.

“I have a contract with Chelsea for a number of seasons and I have no plans to leave, even if Mourinho, the man who wanted me in the Premier League is no longer here.”

There were reports that Jose Mourinho’s recent departure as Chelsea manager may push Carvalho towards the exit door, however it seems this is not the case.

“It is not important who the manager is,” the ex-Porto man explained. “I am a professional and I give everything on the field for Chelsea.”
