Probably, but I think he's been Azzurri's best defender in the last 2years, and 2nd best to great Barzagli in the last 2 seasons as-well at Juve.

bonucci is amonst the top 20 center backs in the world as well as barzagli and chiellini. vidic can be a short term replacement for barzagli but why would he leave united.

Vidic is a much more natural defender than Bonucci, that is for sure. Although he did seem to get done by Torres whenever he played against him.

The real issues aren't his ability but fitness, salary and role in the squad.

He is 31, world class and for free, what's there to argue? Yeah salary won't be cheap and we have several CBs already, but he is pretty much the ceiling for modern defenders so no reason to pass up on him.
