Category: General

Pavel Nedved admits he’s enjoying life in Serie B and the new Stadio Olimpico atmosphere following Juventus’ fourth consecutive victory.

“Not only are we playing great football, but we’re also winning games,” said the Czech midfielder who agreed a step down following their demotion in the Calciopoli scandal.

There were fears the Bianconeri would be mired in the Second Division after their opening 1-1 draw at Rimini, but they have already clambered up to –4 points from their –17 starting position, earning a 2-0 win away to Piacenza this weekend.

“A period of adjustment was only to be expected, but thankfully it only lasted one game. We also struggled a little with Vicenza, but were able to bring home the result and the fans were a great help to us.”

David Trezeguet claimed that one of the reasons Juve’s players have become so enthusiastic about this Serie B experience is the atmosphere in the new Stadio Olimpico, replacing the often half-empty Stadio Delle Alpi with its athletics track creating a cavernous gap between the crowd and the field.

“It’s so exciting,” continued Nedved on the official Juventus website. “To have the fans so close to the pitch and see the stands packed is a crazy sensation. I remember some Champions League games at the Delle Alpi and the emotion I felt seeing a full house. With the Olimpico, you get that buzz every week.”

The 2003 Ballon d’Or winner had hinted at a possible retirement after the World Cup in Germany, but decided to stay on so that he could help Juventus in their hour of need.

“At my age, feeling the support of the crowd is indispensable! All joking apart, when your legs begin to feel heavy, to hear the fans call your name wipes out that tiredness in an instant. They keep me young.”

Nedved is enamoured of the new Stadio Olimpico – which was built in place of the old Comunale and used for the Turin Winter Olympics earlier this year.

“While we warm up, I focus on the match and realise a lot has changed from previous seasons. There is more joy and the atmosphere is relaxed. I can sense this stadium is more suited to families. You can feel the desire to have fun and that makes it an environment for everyone. This year, we’re going to enjoy ourselves.”

Source: Football Italia/Channel 4

Next is Brescia, a tough game.

I think all the team with the fans are having the same feeling as Pavel.

How about a New Thread: Juve - Brescia?

After all, its a Serie B derby.

P.S. Pavel wasnt substituted for 5 games in a row.

I think we have to give our old man a rest.:D

I think Juve - Brescia is postponed until 1st November, a national holiday.

Juventus-Brescia postponed to November 1st

Juventus-Brescia will be played on the 1st November, at 17.30, at Turin’s Olympic stadium.
Both ‘La Lega’ and Brescia came to an agreement regarding Juventus’ request not to hold the game when so many Bianconeri players were away on international duty.
The 1st November – a public holiday - has been chosen for the clash, so as many fans as possible can attend.

EDIT: How about a New Thread: Treviso - Juve:eyebrows:

I've wondered about that too, but I am also intrigued by the avatar. How did you manage to get a hold of the X-ray of the solitary collective brain cell of the interesti?
