Napoli have displayed relatively strong form away from the San Paolo this season, slipping to just three defeats from their 14 fixtures on the road.
Their away campaign began with a solid 3-1 victory over Cesena, with Lavezzi, Campagnaro and Hamsik getting on the scoresheet. However, they failed to make it two in a row in Verona, as Moscardelli’s goal handed the hosts a 1-0 victory.
Mazzarri’s men bounced back in resounding fashion, overcoming Inter at the San Siro through goals from Campagnaro, Maggio and Hamsik. Yet their inconsistency continued to haunt them after they followed up a goalless draw in Cagliari with a 2-1 defeat against Catania.
Two 1-1 draws against Atalanta and Novara then followed, before the Partenopei returned to victory with a 3-1 success over Palermo.
After playing out a 1-1 draw with Siena, Napoli then stumbled to a 3-2 defeat in Genova, only managing to reduce the deficit in the closing stages after the hosts had raced into a three-goal lead.
The long-awaited clash with Milan at the San Siro finished 0-0, a combative fixture in which clear cut goalscoring opportunities were few and far between.
Napoli’s away form has shown a steady improvement in recent times. Lavezzi added to Cavani’s double to seal a fine 3-0 success in Florence, while Parma were overcome 2-1 at the Tardini through goals from the same deadly duo. Their last trip on the road yielded a 2-2 draw against Udinese, with Cavani’s double levelling up strikes from Pinzi and Di Natale.
