Na they're not banned. Only on commercial airliners and even that decision is not theirs. It's the FCC that bans it and the FAA enforces it.

As of yesterday yours truly is unofficially (officially subject to one minor detail) an Instrument Rated Pilot :flag1: :scarf:


For those of you that don't know what this:
Basically it allows me to fly & navigate in low to 0 visibility. It is the most important license in aviation. It was extremely difficult and at times a disheartening process but at last I am done (well nearly).
