9 million is a crazy amount of money! I don't think he's getting paid much at Fiorentina to deal with that compensation, and his wage during Juve wasn't much either. Only at Chelsea he was getting a proper wage which didn't last long. He would definitely find himself in debt if the compensation decision stood firm.
This is just ludicrous, Chelsea fired him already, they can't ask for compensation. There are numerous ways to get back their money had they not fired him. Let's face it, had Adrian not successfully continued his career they wouldn't have asked for anything. Greedy bastards.

Fifa should award Chelsea a nominal sum - 1 euro!
Mutu shoud take this further. If Chelsea sacked him, they havev no right to expect compensation. Normal working regulations do not have facilities for employers to seek compensation from employees they sack - it's usually the other way round!
