I don't know if you recall our conversation before he got elected, but i had very low expectations. The one issue i expected him to kinda deliver on was immigration. And though I'm not even remotely satisfied with his performance so far, I'm convinced if kamala was in charge it would be much much worse.
On foreign policy, his stance on israel is obviously despicable, he's 100% compromised, they got dirt on him. But I'm not sure the Dems would have been that much different. As I said before, isarel remains America's number 1 national security threat.
As for Ukraine, imo very difficult subject to broach. Trump has been pretty consistent on this subject. He wants the war to end and he obviously wants to take the credit. And as much as it pains me to say it, even if trump wasnt the president, I still don't see how Ukrainians could come out on top at this point. They will have to cede territory, what remains to be seen is what kind of security guarantees they will get in return.
On the economy front, i think it's too early to tell. One thing is for sure though, the doom and gloom about tariffs turned out to be a nothing burger.
Overall, trump is an israel first president who has failed to deliver on almost all of his election promises so far. He has an insurmountable mountain to climb in the next 2 years to salvage his 2nd presidency.
I think you also predicted -- a prediction I still agree with -- that no matter who won the presidency was going to be f'ed. Just the economics of the national debt, the world, the state of U.S. inequality and oligarchy, etc.
IMO, Kamala would have been pretty useless as a president. Much as her entire political career, she basically phones it in and collects a paycheck while smiling and holding hands with black children. She certainly is capable of throwing daggers at immigrants. And while most of this administration does it for public display more than anything, the asylum waves would have not subsided.
That said, she would have not started a global tax war, and she would not have sent America's scientific R&D leadership back to the Stone Age, and she wouldn't have lined her pockets by opening government policy decisions to the highest bidders. And I don't think she would have inflated the national debt overall the way Trump's budget just has ... as he did in his first term of office.
Health care is beyond f'ed in America and I don't think it would have been even more f'ed the way Trump and that RFK Jr. clown are handling it now. I honestly expect to read a headline any day now that RFK Jr. declares hand-washing ineffective and a toxic practice of the Medical-Industrial Complex to ritually keep us in fear of healthy germs.
I guess the good news is that all Americans will be turned to Orin Hatch's Utah to line grifter pockets when primary care in America is replaced with gas station checkout bottles of unregulated Feel Free, Iron Max Hellfire, Purple Magic, and Rhino 7 Blue. Medical libertarianism sounds like freedom, but that's more true for the con artists than the millions of American ignorants and desperates.

I'm not as convinced about tariffs being a nothingburger. Policy/tariff shifts take time, much as it took years before we saw the good and bad of NAFTA. I think it's premature to give an "all clear" on that one. The US economy has been more resilient than most gave it credit for, and that goes back to the waning days of deep Covid in the middle of the Biden presidency.
