There is definitely a problem when it comes to the general public taking warnings seriously. Flash Flood warnings are rather common compared to other types of weather events, but they don't get the attention they probably deserve, unlike tornados. And to be honest, much of the public has a disdain for meteorologists because of the perception they aren't accurate, which isn't really true, or because they've been brainwashed to think the NWS is just wasteful spending. So as much as I want to care about people, I can't bring myself to do so when there is so much willful ignorance out there.

In the case of the Texas floods, the NWS issued flash flood warnings and flash flood emergencies before the storms hit. The main issue is that the storms happened between 1 and 4am when everyone was asleep. Apparently, Camp Mystic has a "no phones" policy as they are a Christian summer camp, so presumably nobody received the flash flood emergency push notifications which did get pushed. From a mesoscale perspective, this was basically a perfect situation where the remnants of a tropical cyclone drove enough moisture into a stalled out front over Texas, which allowed the storms to train over the same area, squeezing out incredible amounts of moisture, 10+ inches in a few hours.

There's no doubt in my mind that these sort of events are becoming more common, probably for a few reasons.
Are they? I can't say I'm much of an expert in the area, but I always found it hilarious how they can (at least here) barely predict the weather. I'm talking whether it's shinny, rainy, cloudy or whatnot. The most "basic" stuff.

Insider trading is a necessary evil at this point for those in privileged status to abuse NMPI.
i don't think it should be tolerated. yes, it would require a bipartisan bill to be banned which is very unlikely with trump in sight, but stranger things have happened before. if they rightfully called out pelosi for it a few years ago...

Another high volume trade before the announcement, this time in forex. I think these guys are literally making billions just based on announcing trade policy. This is easily the most corrupt government in the history of the world, and you fuckers voted for it @Hust @Nomuken @GordoDeCentral why?

It depends on what you mean. Are you talking about predicting the weather to the second? Models help with that, but they aren’t always accurate to the second. That’s why daily forecasts use probability for rain chances, temperature, and timings. A good met knows how to use various tools and their own knowledge to make a forecast.

I’ve used this analogy before, but weather forecasting is like dropping a robber duckie in a river and trying to predict where that duckie ends up 10-10,000 yards down the river. Sure, you can use models of the river currents to make a prediction based on your time scale. But to be 100% accurate all the time is impossible.

As dumb as these things sound, I think the people saying them might be appealing to Trump's susceptibility for flattery. Maybe she's saying this on the off chance he or one of his main goons read this and they decide she can stay as a "good" immigrant.

Similar to what @Nomuken does. As a fat little Mexican his chances of deportation are astronomically high, so he wants to be appealing to his master.

""I'm not deportable to any country," Arpineh told the BBC from the detention facility."

"All four children are US citizens, born and raised in California. The couple believes officials will take that into consideration when deciding Arpineh's fate."

Oh ma'am, do I have some bad news for you.

Exactly my thought. She gave this interview detailing how ICE threatened her and yet she’s praising Trump. Something is off here.

dude makes up stories in his senile head, presents them as facts. i bet zero countries kissed his ass and said SIR let's make a deal

3 deals in 3 months. they announced a deal with uk, a framework agreement with china and a reciprocal agreement with vietnam, right? and this asshole pretends that 200 countries are kissing his fat ass. what a delusional retard.

Even the deal with the UK is not even an actual deal, another framework agreement.

Honestly we'd be better off not doing any deal with him, we don't exactly need anything from him

Fuck sake did they really just use Enter Sandman by Metallica for that cringe video that I would compare to the Prestige worldwide presentation video from the movie, Step Brothers.
