...But she’s been pulled into a lot of hybrid MBA programs where the seemingly brightest students, who respond and ask good questions immediately, and are frequently enrolled from mainland China. Unlike fully remote classes, she does hybrid ones so she does get to see these students in person during the semester. But none of them are like their online personas. Unresponsive. Unable to answer questions. No language issues. She’s 100% convinced they’re all AI frauding their way through the motions.....
i know a story from a hungarian university. a few years ago they had a group of chinese students. a hungarian lobbyist/mediator represented them. he said that he could bring the same amount of students every year. imagine a group of 18-19 year old chinese students, ~25 people, they all had wealthy parents, they all said they wanted a european bsc degree in economics, but they wanted it quick: instead of the usual 7 semesters, they agreed to have more classes per week, and they wanted to get it done in 2 semesters.

the rector of the university told them to fuck off at first, then they said they'll pay the full fee for the whole program, plus some additional fees for the flexibility. the rector said fuck it, why not, give it a go, but it couldn't be done in a single year, it took 3 semesters to get them to the final exam. the written assignments were from acceptable to very good, but during the classes most students remained unresponsive. their lobbyist wanted the final exams to be made either online or substituted by written assignments. rector told them to not push it. 12 of the group failed their final exam as it turned out that they barely spoke any english and couldn't understand the most basic questions. it was a mess. their lobbyist never returned again lol, he probably tried his luck at another university
