Joking aside, I recently heard 2 stories regarding canceled summer travel: first one is a lesbian couple, who are my wife’s friends. Both are naturalized US citizens (originally from Europe and South America) for some time but are scared to travel. The other one is a middle eastern guy who’s been a permanent resident for more than 8 years but just didn’t get to apply for naturalization. He has a half-Jewish American wife and 2 kids, but also scared to travel out of the country.

I cancelled plans as well and went to Mexico instead.

Funny thing is I met this manager from a YouTube dude doing a clip at the Calakmul ruins and this guy was saying to me and some other Europeans how they always have loads of security in countries like Mexico and Guatemala. Honestly wanted to tell him these days I'd rather take my chances there. At least I can just bribe people.
