I remember the video below from years ago. Great channel to follow and he explains it into detail. It has to do with the opening of the Arctic, minerals and China. It makes sense from a geopolitical point of view, buying is quite a stretch and impossible, but increasing influence in Greenland seems like a very rational decision.
