Oh, Patriotism is at an all-time low.

My generation has zero confidence in the government and perceive pro-America nationalists as clowns. Military enrollment is down, a lot, meaning that the average poor person is either more educated or doesn't have as much of a positive outlook on the Military as they might have several years ago. How the VA/Government has treated vets after Iraq/Afghanistan has done a lot to taint the taste of many, too.

Yeah it’s the age of information. People are a lot more aware of shot the govt pulls, they way they mistreat soldiers, the spying, the lies are called out more and politics have become identity wars with 0 professionalism.

America is a great country and I love it but the politics are shit and need to change with the times in order to get that trust back.

Dude, the database has replaced the narrative. All information is disinformation. We are all conspiracy theorists now.

No it was some statistic of patriotism reaching a all time low, so I was curious to the opinion of my fellow Americans. Since the tweet was deleted I’m not sure if it was accurate
It's more or less accurate but with nuances.

The left hates the very idea of america. They see it as a white supremacist imperialist slaving nation. Basically ungrateful commie scum, just like those dykes in the us female soccer team. The epitome of entitled spoiled brats whose dysfunctional parents gave em everything except firm discipline.

The right on the other hand feels the current iteration of america has nothing to do with what the founding fathers intended it to be. They have 0 trust in govt institutions: congress, fbi, army... It's also the last pangs of the dying wasp cultural and institutional hegemony. A conglomerate of godless fags and minorities is trying to fill that space, but imo it's a very fragile alliance.

Centrists, the majority, are either closeted righties, or righties in denial. The fear of being canceled, shunned or god forbid called a racist(this gets more effective the whiter you are) are too much of cost. But all it will take is one serious personal episode for them to fully flip.

But imo regardless of party affiliation, if you live and thrive in America, and are making 0 active effort to move away, any lack of patriotism makes you a selfish ungrateful piece of shit. This is even more so of an issue for me for people who recently migrated and whose ancestors didn't spill blood or built anything, and yet are reaping all the fruits and then turn around and call out the very nation that actually saved them: the Ilhan Omar's of the world, the worst of the worst.

This is a bullshit poll and even more bullshit reporting from Axios. The Gallup link provides more nuance than click bait. ake this for instance:
Although the percentage of U.S. adults who say they are extremely proud to be American remains near the record low, together with the share who are very proud, about two-thirds express national pride.

Especially the left became very sick. When I was around 18 or 19 I started getting interested in politics and I started reading books about it. Everything I learned back then is so far removed from what the left has become years later. Now it’s basically a very loud screaming group of people who are very ideological driven. As a result of diving into those books I basically voted left throughout my adult life, but when elections will come here I hold the door open for alternative options.

Yeah those fears and that framing are a huge part of problems in society nowadays. And those frames (I feel) come more from the left. It’s a very bad development and it adds to the polarisation. That’s exactly why I got a soft spot for Trump. I rather have someone who speaks his mind, maybe I don’t agree with everything but it’s better than someone who puts a mask on and says things because it fits the narrative.

I agree with you here. It applies to every country, but specifically speaking about the US patriotism is almost a export product, almost everyone knows about it even if you’re born and raised on the other side of the world. Therefore that statistic (its the same one as posted above) caught my eye.

Its a huge problem in Western society with second or third generation migrants who basically have a identity crisis. They don’t feel at home in the country where they’re living, they feel any loyalty towards it, but aren’t fully connected or in many cases don’t even speak the language from the countries where their grandparents are from. Results of those scene’s are the ones we’ve seen in France recently. Another good example are all those young men who left and decided to join IS around 2015.
