Absolutely. Boohoo to the name calling online - either get thick skin and brush it off, ignore it or don't use the platform. OR, like you said, buy/build your own if you want an echo chamber as a safe space. Also, HILARIOUS on the last comment. People lamented at repubs complaining about Twitter being left leaning and told them to go start your own platform but as soon as their safe haven was bought and balance restored using the same logic, Musk is suddenly a pedophile ("takes one to know one"). Honestly, this purchase of twitter really is the absolute best example of the left's hypocrisy...Pre Musk & Twitter, Tesla was the hip thing to own; elites had to have one, they even praised Musk...now he buys twitter and makes it an even playing field, then the push to cancel Tesla (and Musk) intensified. Just look at the vitriol he gets here lol

Also, Andy: - re: the cis fat white dues with glasses - sounds like a carbon copy of Antifa members. Just look at their mug shots - literally, verbatim, your description.

lolol

yeah bro, I am. Anti-science/education - perfect liberal talking points. Hilarious coming from the party that says you're anti-science if you disagree with Fauci or doesn't agree that there are 43 genders (whatever the count is)...or being pro-women but ignore them when they get destroyed by men (biological) in their sporting arenas.

"led to this situation" - pretty sure the left controls the entire academia so blame yourselves for our youth falling in test scores.

These people simply can't cope with what they can't control. It's glorious
As if you right wingers are any better. Lol. Most of y’all didn’t even know who Musk was till he went full QAnon.

oh BTW, and those test scores you refer to. America was always crap at them. And the countries that ace them are social democracies like Finland, Denmark and Sweden- countries that are the very antithesis of MAGA and the Tea Party.

It's a real problem. I don't support the weaponization of content. But a lot of the far left thinks "safe space" only means "people who agree with me" where everyone with a different opinion is a threat to society.

Both sides could do a lot of good dealing with a difference of opinion. This controlling of the narrative the left has done only hurt themselves IMO. As soon as you push back even a little on their argument it’s like they can’t handle when you don’t agree. Never seen so many people with thin skin like you see from so many on twitter.

Yet the left here controls academia. Go figure.

lol at most of us right wingers not knowing musk until he went full Qanon. How many of said countries are 100% in on sexualization of kids by radical morons rather than focusing on the actual academic basics?

Yeah cuz Truth Social is the bastion of free speech right?
"Free speech" is a ruse. The people who cite it most don't even know what it means.

Agree with the necessary exposure to differences of opinion. That's not even so much political as it is moronic group-think after a point.

But the controlling the narrative? I'm less certain on that. You can't be bitching about CNN when the network has completely tanked, and is trying to flip, and Fox News has been chest-beating how they've been the #1 cable TV news media for ages.

I’ve never seen so much anti-lgbtq rhetoric on Twitter. I mean there’s like thousands of people basically calling them pedophile “groomers” as if there’s a Comet Pizza on every corner. This is not going to end well and at this rate I’m starting to think anybody who participates in this is just a Nazi. It’s even more ridiculous than thinking Trump and Putin rigged the election together with Facebook bots. This country is just beyond fucked.

Actually, now that I think about it, I bet the real groomers are the ones pushing this agenda. What better way to create confusion and project on everyone as a distraction than that? When in reality, whenever you find news articles about convicted pedophiles, most of them are Cis white dudes with ugly faces, glasses, and poor fashion sense. You know, basically rhe Qtards that stormed the capitol.
You mean.....the Groomers could be the ones in power?

No, not the Church! I mean, "them!"

If you are a Republican and don't believe in individual liberties as they exist outside of ideology, you're a clown.

Bro, and you’re Republican? The same party that has led to this situation with their constant anti-education and anti-science agenda?
Times have changed friend, right now it looks like it's the left that is anti science. Pushing for chemically castrating kids with hormone blockers and encouraging them to mutilate their body parts. Acuthubillah

LOL cis? talk about being brainwashed. Newsflash, not everyone is so easily manipulated as to go along with sexual academia nonsense, and the majority of people refuse the sexualization of children or being told whats what by the mentally ill.

Twitter is finally a better representative of public opinion as opposed to an echo chamber for blue haired sexual deviants.

It's also a private company, if you don't like it but your own.
First off: I agree with the overall sentiment of your post. Quite strongly even.

But I don't know about Twitter being a better respresentative of public opinion. It takes a special kind of person to be on Twitter. The sort of person who believes that everyone in the world is interested in his or her opinions. Most people know that's not the case. I can't speak for the US, but in Europe Twitter is becoming something academics use to push their research. In fact, I can't think of a single friend who is on Twitter who is not an academic.

The truth is we shouldn't be talking about safe spaces at all. Nothing is a safe space. Anything you say will be subject to public scrutiny and people will tear you apart if you say stupid shit. That's the reality of life. And it's a bloody good reality, because this is the very core of scientific research. I don't want to teach my children to say anything they want. I want to teach them to back up their ideas and opinions with arguments and facts.

It's a better representative vis a vis the pre-musk era at least in the market of opinions, case in point, my account was perma banned there, which has now been been reactivated, for commenting "enabling of mental illness" on this tweet:

And speaking of academics pushing research, in my experience, the more relevant stuff is almost always from anonymous accounts, especially on 'contentious' subjects.

I don't know what you replied, but in general I think bans on such a forum need to be limited for inflammatory hate speech.

Btw with regards to the above post: it's funny that one would call it "transphobic". Maybe it's more insulting towards actual biological women who were born without a cervix or with a malfunctioning one. I mean, at least that's the sort of person I would commiserate with.

I have said before to people who bring up cable news, I don't have cable, so I don't watch either fox or CNN. I prefer to read news online, even if slanted simply because I can't stand people on the news.

Much easier to digest a difference of opinion when the person telling me isn't smug or trying to talk down to me. I'm more open to reading it than listening to it, if that makes sense.

People bring up Libs of TikTok for example. Personally, I think its brilliant b/c its the actual people telling the world what we have all thought especially about teachers. It's literally coming from their mouth. LofTT is simply relaying the message what these idiots are posting online so for people to hate that person but not the morons actually putting that nonsense online is quite fascinating...they will say LofTT is facilitating hate but how? The person isn't the one posting the video online lol

But here's what dumbfounds me.

What makes a person want to utter things like "Only women have a cervix" in the first place?

Transphobic or not, that's like someone wanting to say "Only Black people are descendants of Neanderthals". What exactly are you even trying to communicate or even achieve with bizarre platitudes like that? Just when does a phrase like that have any usefulness in context?

The person making the statement becomes more the subject of inquiry than the statement itself.

I suppose it is just impossibile for that person to function knowing that there are people out there who call others with a cervix men.

You mean a mantra to put up a reality distortion field as a form of psychological protection from the outside world?

A kind of "Lallalala!" with your hands cupped over your ears?

We may as well have people with the urge to keep muttering "Pluto is a planet" too for that matter, and then debating the societal implications.

I guess so.

Honestly I think a lot of the time people from both sides make this debate way more heated and difficult than it should be. You have trans people going on and on about pronouns and when to say what in which particular moment, clutching at straws to be offended because they want to be offended. And then you have some dude from the other side charging in and saying "All men have dicks" knowing full well it's just going to piss off a lot of people and it isn't even correct from a biological point of view.

Wear what you want, fuck whatever consenting adult you want and tell people what name you go by. I don't care. At all. If you're 165 cm tall, you have breasts and wide hips and long golden locks, but you insist on being called Fred, I'm just going to call you Fred.
