The idea of universal basic income is dumb enough to begin with, but super funny to start it with only transgender people.

“The Guaranteed Income for Trans People pilot program will provide 55 low-income transgender residents with $1,200 a month for up to 18 months. Participants will also receive gender-transition treatment, mental-health care, case-management and specialty-care services, as well as financial coaching.”

Not only guaranteed income but free transition treatment and mental health care.

I’ll play DA here. I’m no fan of UI either. But my issue is a lot of states are basically heading towards banning gender-affirming care. So in essence, we have refugees in our own country who are fleeing FL, OK, AK, and other places where people can’t even live the lives they want to live. Not a fan of sanctuary cities, but in this case I can see why this is happening. A large segment of the country is trying to purge transgenders from existing, something needs to be done. And this is coming from Bjerknes.

Wow, this could be Twitter’s last day.
I’ve never seen someone burn so many billions to the ground so quickly.
I want to say how twatter is a swamp of shit and how much I hate it (remains true for opinion-twitter) but in the last 9 months it has grown on me as a legitimately great method to grab news from a handful of trusted sources in one place. I will miss this part. The 'monkeys throwing feces at each other' part however, the sooner it gets wiped out the better.

I don’t disagree with any of what you say here. I just think this is not the way to go about it. If anything it further alienates them from the general populace and breeds more resentment. And that’s really unfortunate.

If you're a conservative and you want to stir up hatred towards transgenders this would be the way to do it.

I'm not against UBI though, especially not in the welfare states we have in Europe. For starters a lot of people have bullshit jobs that add little to nothing to society. I don't feel better just because they sit at a desk. Then there's the fact that low income jobs that require hard work (think working in waste disposal for instance) often don't earn people that much more than if they were on welfare. Which is why a lot of people just don't work. If you have UBI, the idea would be that your very basic needs are met, but you can add to that and live more luxuriously if you work. I think it's a transition we will make sooner or later to allow people to have more meaningful jobs and more fulfilling lives.

that should be an integral part of the education system in every country though

i remember some stats when covid hit the us that said that around 60% of us residents don't have savings to live for 2-3 months lol
Agree - like a home-ec class but why just give it to them and not all the disenfranchised minorities in liberal cities that can’t get out of poverty? Why stop at there?

It's a bit over the top, really. Trans peeps are getting kid gloves like no woman, black, brown, disabled, or "vanilla" gay person ever got. That's what doesn't add up to me. It's like trans reparations or something.
