I mean, coal-based combustion has been a source of heat for over a century, with its systems able to withstand subzero degree temperatures all across the northern hemisphere. If they can't get their systems to work in this environment then their grid is even worse than Soviet Russia. I can see issues arising because of nat gas equipment freezing, similarly to how gas companies have to add liquid methanol into propane so the lines don't freeze, which will probably be illegal at some point since it's methanol.
its a cheaply constructed grid

It seemingly worked fine for 99.9% of the time. But yeah, something doesn't seem right.

I spoke with some of our sub station foreman and they think the only way for such a catastrophic failure to occur is poor or cheap construction. Basically, saving money by not insulation, etc.

Self-sufficiency is good as a planning philosophy. But Texas has no business being the only state in the nation closed off to out-of-state backup.

At least if you're not going to insulate your gas pipelines.

I read something like 6 gigawatts is planned as wind but 67 gigawatts is planned from gas, coal, and nuclear. You don't become the #1 fracking state because of wind speed.

Not to blame the messenger here, but isn't Cernovich an Alex Jonesian conspiracy theorist? The dude is dripping with pizzagate grease.
Your president just justified genocide and wide scale political crackdown through the prism of cultural relativism, let's ignore that and look at what kind of stunts the professional internet troll who posted the vid pulled before.

He's trying to be too conciliatory to have a stark contrast with Trumps approach to look good. In the meanwhile China will manipulate him as they see fit

I prefer Biden to the Qanon admin but Biden can also be retarded

Chicago has plenty of natural gas through NiGas. (Which interestingly became Nicor... maybe that n-word worry.) Never hear of problems anything even close to that.

Sounds like Texas was taking a gamble that they would never ever get that cold and would need to shore up the infrastructure.

Oh, it was complete cultural relativism. China gonna China and all. But genocide? Even Trump didn't go there.

And yes, that it came from a pro troll is not the message. But the messenger isn't exactly helping.

Rest In Peace, Rush
NOW it's time to sell Purdue Pharma.

It was a-ok when Trump was justifying Saudi war crimes in Yemen, selling them arms to help them create the world’s current worst humanitarian crisis, widespread famine. Just fine and dandy for them to go butcher American-employed journalists in foreign countries according to Trump and his acolytes...

Completely okay too for Trump to be writing “love letters” with the leader of one of the world’s most oppressive and brutal regimes in North Korea. To fawn and praise Kim-Il Jong for a couple years while accomplishing precisely nothing.

Nevermind that Trump literally flip-flopped back and forth on China a thousand times in 4 years, praising Xi for being made president for life, refusing to condemn their Uighur genocide for 4 years until he was on his way out of office because gotta protect that China trade deal he coveted. Saying he stood with with his good friend Xi during the Hong Kong protests.

Or that the Trump admin attempted to block Congress officially recognizing the Armenian Genocide, which passed unanimously.

But China Joe, he’s the worst!

Holy mother of soy, this guy looks like he is farming reddit upvotes for a living

Clearly, poor planning only exists because there is a lack of government interference.

This is why the government is a benchmark of efficiency and productivity.

An honest response. Manned up at least.

Though it is sad when you have to give politicians credit now for not pulling some reality distortion field tactic with a conspiracy theory.

China Joe likes dead Uyghurs, what are you getting on about?

Efficiency and productivity is also what gave us slavery, child labor, and thousands of dead kids in Bhopal. It's not everything.

If the market could really do what it wanted to offer any service or product as it wished without interference, you'd be dead now. Efficiently dead too.

It certainly is not. I just called the propane company and the price went up another 12 cents since yesterday. The country warms up nicely later next week so I'm hoping prices start dropping soon if TX can get their shit together.
I hate to say this, but there is a strange schadenfreude streak in me know that has me laughing my ass off knowing there were tech workers in SF who fled because of Covid for the countryside, had their power cut and wine country town burn down in massive Cali wildfires, moved to Austin thinking they finally had their crap together, only to freeze their asses off without power or water.

Damn, I can be a mean fook sometimes.
