As a side not to the presidential and congressional elections, several propositions were on the ballot in California.

Prop 15 (real estate tax hike), Prop 16 (affirmitive action), Prop 21 (rent control) were all rejected and Prop 22 (consider app-based drivers as indeendent contractors) passed.

Apparently Californians are not so socialist after all. Perhaps the Republican Party can make it competitive again if they abandon their anti-gay social conservatism and focus on a more libertarian platform there.

I dont get why people are celebrating. I understand when they celebrated for Obama, he was young, different and promised ‘hope’. Biden is 77, he has been in politics his whole life, what can he do more? He will probably start forgetting his promises during election made. Will the american economy improve during his next 4 years? i doubt it. We will see more wars in middle east? Most probably. He will create less jobs because corprate tax will be increased. I know Trump was an arrogant and that the only thing i disliked about him.
I think a lot of people took Trump personally... as in a personal attack. I know a lot of people who grew up in America but didn't look like Trump and felt they were being told, "You don't belong here. And I'm riling up the good ol' boys with guns to either shoot you on sight or drive you out."

IMO, I don't think there's that much for them to be celebrating other than a symbolic toppling of a symptomatic symbol of America's deep problems. It's the celebration over tossing a statue of Lincoln in the river. It looks good on the outside. But the fact is, Trump will still tweet. Fake news and conspiracy theories will still thrive. And the nation is still divided as ever.

Plausible. America loves mythical fakes over politicians.

Another reason I am in the camp of wanting jury-duty-like drafting into public service for politics now.

Mental illness will have to go beyond acceptance and into celebrated embrace for that to happen.

probably some other private sector billionaires will turn up
Absolutely. The American presidency is becoming a billionaire fashion statement, much like buying European football clubs has been for Middle East oil magnates.

You lose all credibility despite being 90% right on rest, for even thinking for a second a Republican will lose Texas
He is too early on that but he isn't completely wrong. Republican gap is narrowing since tech soys are moving from California to Texas and Dems will flood Texas with lowskilled shitters from Mexico. It will be a battleground state and possibly blue in 4-8 years imo.
