you need to try hazy IPAs
French food is amazing, so if they mean Belgian food shares some common themes from the past several centuries, which they probably may, then maybe it makes sense. But I would think steak frites, moules, pastries, and the like are French-based.

There's an ongoing dispute of where fries originate from. As for moules, different European countries have different ways of preparing them, but Belgium is actually quite known for it.

The most iconic 'food' we have is chocolate though.

Cuisine I’m not sure I get your point. I studied tourism for quite a while and had culinary classes that were mainly research and theory, there was no mention of Belgian cuisine. I have strong ties with Europe so I have a fair idea of what differentiates their countries from North American, beer and chocolate is excellent but food I’m not so sure. If we talk gastronomy, Mediterranean countries are la crème de la crème

What differentiates us is mostly that some ingredients have a lot of heritage. Take a product as Oud Brugge cheese and you just taste that it took years to refine. Or the meat that comes from Belgian Blues for example.

I guess I'd say that mostly there is a stronger food culture here, with a lot of influence from other European countries.

I get it, you hated him 4 years ago and you still hate him now. I've seen a lot of hate thrown his way, but this guy is a consistent winner and is an overachiever.
Call it jealously Call it envy. some people just can't handle how successful he is and how much money he has. You could even be jealous that he's got a hot foreign model as his wife. That's why the people who support him love him.
Yes, there have been some scandals. Yes, there have been some lies and maybe a few times he's twisted the truth to make himself look better. He's out there every day proving those haters wrong time after time.
You may not have wanted him in this role but he's there now and there is nothing you or I can do about it. I know it's possibly going to get worse over the next several days. I know I'm going to lose some friends because of this post. However like him or not, Tom Brady is turning things around in Tampa Bay.

Is it though? I mean, some cities and states have massive problems. Budgets out of control, mismanagement, local politicians who want to defund the police, et cetera.

Personally, I hope there is gridlock for the next four years where very little gets done, other than the stuff that actually needs to get done, which is very little, IMO. If politicians are passing new laws constantly there is a huge problem, especially considering they barely read these bills and laws as it is.
That's perfectly understandable. But in this specific situation, this was unreal, I will never forget it. Aid would never be withheld from the southern states after the 3000th hurricane of the season for example, because that would be cruel and damaging to the nation. You're right that there are many mismanaged cities/states, but I certainly don't buy that excuse considering he had 3 previous years to address it in any way, but instead all of a sudden chose to do so through what is essentially extortion during a time of extreme need.

At least your portfolio should be looking nice after the past two days :p

Yes I misphrased :D

Belgium doesn't have its on cuisine. We have our gastronomical experience. It's a combination of French cuisine with other said influenced, but we are known to have a very high cooking standard when it comes to that.

So with Belgium cuisine I means if you come eat out here, the food standard is great and you'll generally find a mixture of the above said cuisines, but mostly French.

It's noticeable when traveling Europe for work or competition the paar years that it's really great.

Been to Germany, Ireland, England, Scott land, Spain, Austria, switszrland, chechnrepublic, Hungary, Slovakia and Italy.

It's really a standoud how much better, including France, the food standard was...

.. Except Tuscany. Seriously, it's impossible in Tuscany to eat bad.

Firenze, pescia, follonica..

Fond memories. Want to go back.

Best thing in Italy is not the pasta but the meat by the way. Yep.

PRetty sure Lagunitas is up there as well.

@JCK drinks a lot of beers right? Including American brands? Maybe he can tell us
Lagunitas and Sierra Nevada are great. I prefer Founders to both if we are talking on that scale though. My favourite American breweries are in this order Great Divide, Oscar Blues and Captain Lawrence. I like Ballast Point too. There are lots that brew good and this craft beer craze is definitely because of the the American home brewing, the styles that are evolving from these schools beat the Belgian history in my opinion.

you have to try Wrench by Industrial Arts brewery. Omg, it’s delicious. Not easy to find, even here but it’s worth it.

im lucky, just around Philly we have victory, yards, and troegs among the big ones. Then there’s so many smaller breweries, every big town has one. Tired hands, neshaminy creek, manayunk brewing, etc

even second story brewing which was a mile from where I lived in the city had a fantastic seasonal collection. Always something new. You couldn’t even tell it was a brewery from outside

Yeah I misused cuisine there.

We are in the middle of several great cuisines and have our own touches, level of cooking is great. Or as you call it, we got a really good food culture.

Standard is just pretty high here. It's really noticeable when traveling across Europe.

Btw . Isn't stoofvlees a Belgian recepy
