Twitter is not on the masthead of The New York Times. But Twitter has become its ultimate editor. As the ethics and mores of that platform have become those of the paper, the paper itself has increasingly become a kind of performance space. Stories are chosen and told in a way to satisfy the narrowest of audiences, rather than to allow a curious public to read about the world and then draw their own conclusions.
My own forays into Wrongthink have made me the subject of constant bullying by colleagues who disagree with my views. They have called me a Nazi and a racist; I have learned to brush off comments about how I’m “writing about the Jews again.” Several colleagues perceived to be friendly with me were badgered by coworkers. My work and my character are openly demeaned on company-wide Slack channels where masthead editors regularly weigh in. There, some coworkers insist I need to be rooted out if this company is to be a truly “inclusive” one, while others post ax emojis next to my name. Still other New York Times employees publicly smear me as a liar and a bigot on Twitter with no fear that harassing me will be met with appropriate action. They never are.

Bari has a history of going after people’s jobs and careers if she didn’t like their views but here’s the thing, you will see the absurdity and cruelty of it when it happens to yourself. It was unfortunately rather satisfying to read her detailed letter of crying and complaining.

And you love getting all uptight and defensive about those posts... while no one here is defending those extremist minorities. Or getting all butthurt about yours and that other fellas endless stream of posts of extremist minorities/lefties behaving badly. :p
never said anyone here is defending those turds.

I do find it odd that "trumpeters" are the problem to many of you though. Repubs are much less militant

The longer this goes on its inevitable more prominent left voices will find themselves canceled because their politics are not intersectional enough. Its a suicidal ideology. There isn't a human being alive that actually lives up to its standard. They attempted to survive this proclaiming you can't be racist against white people, sexist against men, prejudic against Christians etc. and it looks like the next groups are the "white passing" POCs white jews, latinos of noticeable European ancestry and feminists who don't want to share bathrooms with men in dresses

She wasn’t sacked. She resigned “in protest”. Rumor has it she’s starting a new outlet with another journo who resigned under the same terms.
Yeah, was gonna edit it, but was too lazy :p

Don't care if she's a shitty journo btw, but getting bullied out the door because you not in line with the echo chamber woke staff is off putting.

But she was a writer in NYT. Claiming that she was “canceled” is a bit rich when you can write in one if the biggest newspapers in the country. The bullying claim comes from her only.

Until you keep writing the wrong things i guess :boh:

No way to be sure, but let's just say it'd fit right in with the overall madness that's going on right now.

She was woke when being woke wasn't fashionable. She has a book called how to fight antisemitism, ran campaigns against people who criticized Israel. If she showed remorse for what she had done before I'd at least know that she's truly against this vile sick movement she was once a part of, having access to one of the most powerful platforms but she is upset only because some other people have claimed her victim card.
