That's the hypocrisy of corporate that show different colors when the context switches. But individuals can't and don't need to address/have a stance on every world problem to be eligible to talk about issues that matter to them more.
There is a phenomenon now where when the US once was the enviable destination of many in the world just a generation or two ago. I didn't look at other cases, but since at least one is true I wouldn't just dismiss it like you did. There are obviously cases were protesters are aggressors.

In the case of Nawaz it was very ironic since he used to be a Muslim extremist. He provides a unique perspective on how Jihadi groups recruit since he's been on the other side, which made SJWs uncomfortable.
