no problem with confederate statues being torn down, they’re representing treason and a divided nation, but please be more careful:lol:

Sounds like some Mississippi shit
They donated it on 1931, long before civil rights movement and long after reconstruction ended in the south. They also had 89 years to change it yet it still sits there.
fuck all of them wannabe confederates. I hope toppled statues fall on their heads.

Is that the reason for keeping Jefferson Davis’ statues? Because that’s classic slippery slope fallacy.
You're asking me what the Left's reasoning is? LOL

you don’t think it’s odd that the losing side of a rebellion puts statues all over the place after losing?
Is it anymore odd than naming military bases, highways, etc after people on that same losing side?

Washington owned slaves, we go after him too?
Yes. And actually, we go after everything since this country was built upon slavery. Tear down the White House, Capitol Building, every single railroad.

Weren't the railroads built by the Chinese, blacks, and Indians? That means all the goods used to build everything were built by slavery. Ipso facto, every single structure in the country was built by slavery. Tear it all down!

of course not, Washington’s cool

but the civil war wasn’t about slavery;)
That is more than likely the case, although keeping slavery alive was definitely a major issue. If Britain had managed to fund the South, under the premise that Britain was largely dependent on the south for Cotton, we may still have slavery today, for all we know.

But the Confederate Flag, and the statues of the confederate leaders is a symbol of a moment in time for this country. Almost anyone who realizes that the south actually lost the war 165 years ago associates those symbols of oppression and slavery. It's one of the first things they think of. That, and the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard.

When you look at a statue of Washington or Jefferson, slavery isn't usually one of the first things that crosses your mind

You shouldn'a done it!

My problem is most of the people tearing down these statues were never slaves, never knew any slaves, probably couldn't name a "slave" in their family chain, and don't go around bashing the other countries in the world that have slaves to this day. That, along with the fact that if they step foot in like 20 countries around the globe, they probably wouldn't last 10 minutes because of their ugly white ass.

But go ahead and tear down history, that'll create change!

that was sarcasm Sergio, I’m well aware of the intricacies of the civil war. I appreciate your explanation

it’s just funny to me that people get all upset that those statues get torn down

I wasn't trying to explicitly or imply that you didn't know about it. I was just trying to add more context to it. Basically showing just how close the South could have won that war. I apologize.

I'll just stick to the MLB thread.

Really? Lol. Party systems have changed massively since then. The entire south was Democrat until 1960s and they are now solid republican.
cam and dinesh do not acknowledge that change, which is interesting because that discounts a lot of their modern day arguments.

but when you can mold shit to fit your narrative on a whim, not much actually matters from a historical context

I wasn’t angry and I really did appreciate your context.

Don’t apologize.
