My boyfriend's parents are Modi supporters. The conversation they had with their son (in my presence) during the Delhi riots was so much fun 
Also some of the most powerful Indian academics I know in econ/business are supporting Modi. I have never seen an academic trusting a politician in the way some of the US based Indian academics support Modi's politics.

But they won't. They want all the chest thumping without any of the struggles. They want to cheer Kashmir is ours and fuck Pakistan while not caring about the gross violation of rights. I do have a good chuckle when NRIs in the middle east say stupid things about Muslims and then get fired from their jobs. Modi fucked the economy even before the virus struck. His main policies in his first term basically screwed the country over, from which we have barely recovered. The central government hasn't even been able to pay the states their share of taxes on time. It's all shock and awe and some catchy phrases. Now he wants us to be Athmanirbhar which basically means self-sufficient. And yet when companies are leaving China, we are not able to attract them to invest here. I guess that's what you get when you replace a PM with a PhD in Economics with one who proudly proclaims he was a tea seller (and then years later says he's got Masters in 'Entire Political Science'. And no, I'm not making that up)
