lol have no idea why you would think I would believe this was not the first. And no, it shouldn't lead to riots. That's not the answer. Wouldn't imagine why anyone would think it would be to be honest. That's now how civilized societies work IMO. I would reckon to think the ones that never (or hardly) made the news never received punishment or if they did was a slap on the wrist (fine, demotion, loss of job, etc). I assume that's what you're driving after?

I wonder what these angry mobs are doing to try and turn in the people that killed the police and other protestors during this current event. Seems like if it ain't in their narrative it probably won't garner much attention from the people protesting. We aren't a perfect society by any means, but as you said yesterday an unjustified murder should garner reaction and attention. Some people get to choose which ones to pay attention to, others not so much.
Thanks for your eloquent nonanswer

Let me try again: Police often getaway with abuse and aren't punished or skate around getting a justifiable punishment for their actions. We all know this.

Doesn't give anyone the riot to protest and target police, MOST of which are good.

So just let cops keep abusing their power?

the riots can lead to change in policies which will be harsher on cops who abuse their power

I don't recall saying that.

Peaceful protests showing anger en masse without breaking anything speaks volumes more than riots where people (youths) are burning, stealing and hurting anything they can get their hands on.

Come on man. These riots are not an excuse for certain groups to push an agenda mixed in with genuine meaning to push for change that helps minorities and against unnecessary police aggression.

One unjustified death has led to many more unnecessary and unjustified deaths. Is that the kind of toll you think needs paid to initiate change? How many more deaths you want chalked up?

lol and to think how BADLY these riots are literally destroying minority owned businesses and communities. Now they want to defund police. They are actively trying to destroy their own communities. :howler:

I agree that the riots have gotten stupid but this did start out as a peaceful protest and both whites and blacks have been found contributing to the riots. You could say it’s a side effect of the peaceful protest.

Floyd’s death was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Cops have killed way more people and even their dogs for no reason.

I think the racism angle is overblown but the cop brutality is definitely a thing. Look at cops in Europe and see how different it is here. I think it’s a cultural problem, America views cops and soldiers as something special when it’s literally just a job. And their job is to serve the people but as you can see, they’d rather follow orders that lead them to hurt their people and then get butthurt at the consequences.

You can't attack police and soldiers over a few bad apples, same reason you can't blame certain groups of people over a few idiots. The death of police officers and protestors are equally as tragic as Floyds but you'd have to search the Internet and I doubt anyone here (or normal people) can name names of those victims. It's the media's job to cover it all equally and they don't. Their narrative is clear and if anything goes against that narrative its dismissed and/or slandered.

Police should be protected because no one else has the balls to do their jobs which is why we are here posting and not on the front lines trying to uphold the law. When bad apples emerge, this is where reform needs to come in, they need dealt with quickly.

If you think this is about police, you're only looking at the catalyst and not the underlying symptoms. There are about 13 levels of rage going on. Plus 18 levels of people opportunistically looking for kicks to do some free shopping and f stuff up.

police are the ones that are supposed to do the protecting. They’re technically servants of the people who pay their wages.

And I’m not attacking them, I’ve worked with retired cops who have been some of the coolest fellas I’ve met. But that still doesn’t take away that the culture behind the police needs change. Bad cops get shielded bthe entire department and continue to do their jobs regardless of their record.

chauvin and his partners only got fired and then arrested after the video came out and people started complaining for example. They should’ve been arrested right away. I think these protests will make the bad cops more wary about how to act and then hopefully people who go into the force for the wrong reasons will not be tempted to act like assholes.

so don’t take action because it’s too complicated? If you start by making little changes, eventually you’ll get to the underlying root causes

Where do you keep seeing our idea is to not take action and do nothing? This is the 2nd time I have seen you say it or allude to it.

Gandhi challenged an empire, and MLK all facilitated world wide change and never raised a fist. Do you see ANYONE in this current movement that comes close to either one of those?

These cops were fired, arrested and charged quickly. The four cops said he resisted arrest, the police department went with that and when the videos went viral they fired them literally the same day they said he resisted arrest. You can debate whether or not they knew about the videos or whether they were simply believing their officers, sure, I can dig that argument. I would say, looking at past examples, the next day they were arrested when the videos went viral (thankfully they did) is a pretty quick process to unfold.

Riots are only going to increase the conflicts between pissed off people and police and you should know what that leads to: more death, more anger and more blame.

The sheriffs and officers walking and holding hands with protesters speaks volumes more than what these Antifa fucks and rioters are trying to say.

that was meant at swag who said there’s too many levels. But you can still get started on the first level which is the catalyst.

And that’s how riots work. They’re very damaging and then the govt makes changes to appease the people and prevent them from happening again.

When was the last time riots worked? Let me start there lol

Can't say Rodney King - cuz here we are, still seeing police fucking up. People with common sense need to step up and come up with solutions for reform and stricter penalties for officers abusing their power.

Seriously, though. I still can't get over seeing a Del Piero jersey. Surely that means this club is eternally cursed for CL failure.

This is seen as a sign of humility and respect. Our PM has done this publicly, even if it was merely a PR stunt. Dunno why he feels this becomes a religion.
