In Robert Caro's "Path to Power" there's a fascinating chapter on Texas senate election in 1941 and how the votes of Rio Grande valley in south Texas could be bought by simply paying the chief or jefe of the Mexican tribes living there(George Parr, duke of Duval in 1940s). Now Bloomberg got an unusually high share of the vote in those counties (30% in Hidalgo county and 22% in Cameron county)

At least if Trump gets re-elected, that pushes AOC to run for president as soon as she’s eligible. Would like to see her carry Bernie’s torch.

No one is saying it’s exclusively a taxation issue, or that creating “more social programs” is the answer. You’re just assuming this.

More effective taxation, more efficient government spending, improvement of the social programs we already have (and a better informed public about these programs and their uses), better make-work projects and infrastructure spending, and better wages for low skill jobs... these are all things that need to occur alongside taxation.

What I am saying is the further tax cuts for the wealthy right now are absurd. And basically coming across as a wealth grab. While new job numbers have been decent, income gains have not occurred and corporations are not reinvesting these tax cut savings into making more good paying jobs, nor are the rich suddenly spending more of their higher after tax incomes.

Anyways, it’s a combination of things, obviously. That doesn’t change the reality that if America continues on its current pathway a lot more civil unrest is coming.
"Efficient government spending" is a funny concept. Would love to see that one come to fruition.

Part of the reason why wages haven't really increased since the 2009 recession is because firms are sitting on cash for a number of reasons. Real wages have most certainly not increased over time, a trend that probably dates back 20 or 30 years, or potentially more. Real wages are wages adjusted for inflation, which is a measure of purchasing power. It's pretty obvious that the powers that be want to hide inflation in any way possible, because the inflation is what allows the government to keep running huge deficits and places upward pressure on stocks and other assets so that Wall Street can keep the derivatives game running. But this obviously hinders the average Joe from being able to save and create wealth for themselves, especially if they have to spend 10% more on paper towels from Wal-Mart year over year.

You say a tax cut for the rich is a "wealth grab." That makes it seem like they stole the money from someone else in the first place. Maybe you could argue that for some, but that wouldn't have been possible without the Fed's artificially low interest rates, IMO.

Edit: Here's an article that explains this premise. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4241942-blame-fed-for-plight-of-average-american

Also it’s funny that it’ll take around one month to know the delegate distribution of California.
