When something good happens 'Praise be to the Lord Jesus’
When something tragic happens 'God works in mysterious ways’

Also it seems highly contradictory that you acknowledge that we are inconsequential specks of dust in the cosmos, but God sent his son on this One planet (out of a trillion) to personally give humans a chance at salvation. That doesn’t seem humble at all.

The worst part is that it's all set up. God knows all. So he knew Eve would bite from the apple. Hell, he created Eve with all her human flaws. He's the one who created her curiosity. But God, who is omnipotent, deliberately created this flawed human being to watch her fail. And then, when she inevitably does, he punishes her for it.

That is just disgusting behaviour. Surely that's not the kind of God I'd follow. Fuck him.

If people understood how omnipotence works, shouldn't we be able to build a time machine or at least some portal device? You seem to underestimate the complexity of someone who's supposed to create everything and be everywhere at every given moment.

I understand questioning whether a God exists, that's a valid concern, but I think you, Quetz and Gordo should be smart enough to not pretend to be in a position to understand or judge God, at least not the one described in the Bible

Don't judge a god who declares he is a jealous god, condemns sons for the sins of their fathers, commits genocides, allows Job to be tormented and tortured by Satan on a lark... and countless other examples far beyond the pale.

And no, he's not just omnipotent and omniscient. He's also supposed to be benevolent and all-forgiving. What utter rubbish.

It takes but a brief perusal of the bible to see the Judeo-Christian god is a malicious and spiteful cunt.

The only thing more stupid than to try to refute the concept of a god (from a philosophical view) is to believe in the human gods, especially the abrahamic.

seriously, calling God a "guy" and a "cunt"? just after I emphasized that you should take a step back and estimate his grand role and your inability to understand it? way to make a point Seven :D at this point I'm not defending him, I'm just asking for common sense from you. what actions don't you like?

Come on, man. The Christian God is demonstrably false. He just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. If your idea of God is abstract and you hope there is a higher being, fine. But Jesus, the Holy Spirit and all that Christian nonsense? No. It's just stupid.

Once the periodic table and evolution was heresy, then the Churches smelled the looming revolutions and they accepted the thoughts. All of a sudden they are accepted in many Christian Denominations and a part of the abrahamic god.

I already made my argument before with the origin story. Which makes no sense whatsoever. And your only response was 'I do not understand, because he is God'. Sure, you're stupid. That's fine. You can be stupid all day long if you want to. Just don't expect others to follow or respect your idiocy.

If you punish someone for doing something you not only knew he was going to do, but also for which you designed him in the first place to do, you're a massive cunt.

It's like people breeding fight dogs and then getting angry when they bite someone. It's not the dog's fault. It's yours. Because you're a massive cunt. Like God.

I'd say it's more like breeding fighting dogs and some of the dogs acting like they understand whats wrong with Belgian Constitution and calling other dogs stupid for thinking they might not know everything.

Theologians spend their entire careers pondering on existential questions like the one you think you solved in two sentences. But yeah, I'm the stupid one :baus:

That's not an existential question. That's merely a question of whether you believe the particular Christian God is a massive cunt. And then I'd say, yes, the Christian God is definitely a massive cunt.

Your analogy was false by the way. Maybe you can come up with one that is more apt.

Look, the world is a scary place if you don't have a fairytale to believe in. I get that. But why not choose a fairytale with a nice God? Why do you have to go with the spiteful, vindictive vain motherfucker that the Christian 'God' is?

You remember Job? What the fuck was that? God showing how powerful he is? Demanding absolute faith at all times even when he, and he is omnipotent remember, does all he can to make you stop believing? If someone who can do everything does his utmost to make you stop believing, wouldn't it make sense that you.. stop believing? Seriously, it's one fucked up story after another. You'd have to have a humiliation fetish to be christian.

Have they made any progress in this realm in the last thousand years? Philosophers also spend their lives on understanding these questions and don't need to invoke supernatural beings to do so.

I get that you can't come up with arguments (so far you have come up with nothing except 'we don't know'), but you tell me, why do you believe these cruel fairytales?

Oh, and the reason that the Christian God makes no sense is easy:

He punishes people for doing something which he knew they would do and something he designed them to do. Creating man only to be able to punish him and to let him strive to improve God's humour for all eternity is an exercise in futility. At best God is doing this to stroke his own ego.

What kind of fucked up God is that? Your entire idea of your God only brings up more questions. And not of the good kind. It doesn't bring us any closer to understanding why we're here of how 'here' came to exist in the first place. It only makes us wonder about why this vindictive motherfucker up there hates our fucking guts.

How the fuck is that constructive?

lol, you're the one that's resorted to calling everything stupid and cunt, you honestly expect me to continue talking to you much longer if you continue talking like that? You should read the whole Bible, would make more sense to you than just taking out of context one story. I don't believe they're cruel, I think they're aligned to the times these events took place, as a lawyer you're probably familiar with laws and society as a whole being a lot different back then.

The old testament is all about Gods laws, people making bad choice after bad choice and how it's passed down the generations. Free will vs God is omnipotent discussion is a large one, me not taking the authority to have an answer on it doesn't mean I'm stupid. You doing that, although being far less educated on the subject, shows a great arrogance on your part though.

What religion do you think is most prevalent in Belgium? I call the Christian God a cunt, yes. Because he clearly, very clearly, is. In fact, if he was human, we'd call him a sadistic monster. Yet somehow you think this is the guy we should believe in. Incredible.

Oh and btw, as for laws and society being much different back then. That's really only true up to an extent. Half of Europe still uses Roman law. You remember when Christ was born, right?
