The thing which makes it even more bizarre to me is that LIC is going to be gentrified anyway, it's very clearly already happening. Maybe this will slow it down, sure, but this is waterfront property overlooking Manhattan, there's no way it's avoidable here.

It's way too vague for that to be a dig at anyone. You can interpret Mussolini's quote as "more complicated society, more laws", which is what Cornyn is elected for. I honestly don't get what his purpose was.
