I don't know how much I agree with the article, but in general insecure people do tend to vote for authoritarians.

I can't say if that's why people vote for Trump, but I do think the most insecure men are always boasting about their bed skills and are obsessed with doing 'masculine' things. They do tend to swing to the right in politics as well.

I think it's probably more true in Europe, because left is very much left here. The Democrats in the US on the other hand aren't necessarily left and effeminate.
