How about destroying America's relationship with some of her strongest allies in a matter of days? How about signing executive orders that will give banks and financial advisers unfettered access to defraud their customers? How about undermining the role of the judiciary at every possible opportunity? How about lying and making things up on a daily basis? How about signing off on a special forces raid in Yemen without having all the information in hand, resulting in the death of dozens of innocents and a Navy SEAL?

Even one of these points is enough to make a reasonable non-partisan person to say " I told you so",

Also, AS FAR AS I KNOW, the legality of such an act is going to be predicated on the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. Being as that repealed national origin quotas, it's kinda self-explanatory that an order banning immigrants based on national origin would be deemed illegal.
