True wealth is power and influence. It goes beyond money because some things cannot be bought. Trump has it now, Musk wants it as well, but we'll see how it pans out given that both have strong personalities.

Also, whats it with Trump picking all the stupidest bastards to run the country? Is it not a recipe for failure? Trump got back in so why not cement your place for further years? I don't get the logic.

Trump doesn't trust anybody apart from a select few shitbags. This isn't about preserving anything other than his own power. If something ends in disaster, who cares. The rest of the country can go to hell. And the useful idiots will protect him no matter what, and give him carte blanche to do whatever he wants.

Great observations. Couldn’t agree more on your first two paragraphs.

As for the last, it’s likely related to the second. Trump’s power is derived from being an outsider. In Peter Turchin’s cliodynamics, he is a focal point for elite oversupply — the outsiders looking in.

The ones who resent they weren’t invited to the elites’ house party under formal circumstances despite every checkbox they hit to be legitimized in the eyes of the elites. So instead he opted to burn the house down and rallied all his fellow resentful outsiders as his power.

F yer sandbox and toys, I’ll have my own sandbox and toys.

You can’t invite the homeowners to the party at the house you are trying to burn down.

RFK Jr. better reverse US regulations against smoking indoors.

Because American oil policy is gonna flood the streets with oil and gas. The gutters will be overflowing. And anybody smoking outside is going to light it all up and burn down the whole city block.
