This is what I was alluding to in my somewhat drunken rants last night.

The shooter was apparently outside of the active security perimeter, but the sniper details were already focused on the shooter before he supposedly fired. If the suspect was outside of the security perimeter, the sniper detail would know that, so clearly the shooter should have been ID'd as a hostile threat as soon as they saw him. But instead, they waited to fire back until after he supposedly fired. This is highly suspect.

Even the Secret Service detail looked weird, almost like low budget television series material. If you watch this event against the Reagan attempt and others, there is this weird lack of urgency, especially during the prime photo op with the Trump fist shake. My neighbor is Secret Service and he looks way more professional than these guys.

So to me, there's a lot of weird stuff going on here. Perhaps it was a real lone gunman assassination attempt, but it smells bad to me.

same here, just missed the announcement on the shooters name. read the speculations earlier, didn't know that the fbi released factual info already

anyway it will be fun to see how the gun lobby twists this. under normal circumstances it should be an own goal for them. but it might easily get the clown reelected
They will say the good guys with the gun took out the trans rights activist and we need more guns.

He also donated through ActBlue before. So at this point it’s not really known.
Regardless, he looks like someone who could be easily manipulated. Looks like a school shooter type.

I saw the video and I doubt they are the same guy. The video dude is way fatter but may share the same name. The FBI released the name of the suspected shooter already, hence why they have his info.

This actual shooter dude screams of patsy to me. A low IQ redneck Republican registered gun nut. Someone probably approached him and said hey we need you to help protect Trump in Butler so we can kill your dumb ass and blame it on you.

Or maybe he really did try to spark a civil war. Who knows.
the dude you're talking about is Marco Violi and he is an Italian journalist Roma fan btw. And he will get so much money from media misplacing him as Trump shooter that he unlikely he'll ever work again in his life lol

Yeah based on limited info available he seems like a weirdo. Donated to ActBlue at the age of 17 and then registered as R 8 months later. Also no social media at all at the age of 20.

So the alleged shooter is indeed a far right extremist.

The maggots will still blame the Dems and probably put some of them in camps.
I'm not so sure he's left or right than a confused, mixed-up 20-year-old kid with no obvious future prospects.

So mental illness confirmed then?
As with Bolsonaro, I wouldn't rule it out.

Yeah, but a $15 donation at age 17 three years ago? Amazing the conclusions people insist on drawing early based on scant evidence of anything.

I won't entertain the typical conspiracy theory here. But first of all, there's a failure in scoping the grounds to allow buildings with line-of-sight rooftops to come within 150 meters of the stage without being secured as within the event perimeter. That seems like a planning failure.

Second, it does seem odd that they had a fix on the shooter and it seemed like they may have been waiting for him to fire first. Which, for a guy with a rifle at a presidential election rally seems not at all according to protocol.

If this was Israel, that kid would have been vaporized before he reached the roofline.

Regardless, he looks like someone who could be easily manipulated. Looks like a school shooter type.
Yep. The kind of people we want to give more AR-15s to and say it's freedom.

Still, the whole thing is a mess and a tragedy. People shot at the event, and even killed, just for attending. What's probably a messed up kid and now his parents who are mourning their dead son while also inciting hatred from neighbors.

The one good thing honestly is Trump didn't get killed. I wouldn't shed a tear if he keeled over with a heart attack while scarfing a Big Mac. But we already have Cheeto Jesus and don't need to make him a national martyr too.

It was literally the closest building to the stage just outside of the security perimeter. Apparently even people in the crowd saw the dude on the roof with the rifle.

The Secret Service is not this unprofessional. Something is amiss here and it needs to be investigated more than "we got 'em."

But yes indeed, if Trump was killed we would have events 1000 times worse than January 6th. Thank goodness it didn't happen.

exactly my point

but it's literally one of them this time
Why should it matter to the NRA? As if they give a shit about Trump. Post Sandy Hook it’s obvious that there won’t be any meaningful restriction for guns in the US, and with Supreme court in the bag it doesn’t matter much who’s in the White House. Biden couldn’t do anything regarding guns either.

Not going to lie, I'm a bit surprised at the sheer amount of people that this this was fake.

Conclusions in search of premises all around. It's how it is these days.

Came here looking rational discussion, found the same level of denial and "staged" conspiracies being spouted on X. Surprised by how much stupidity is doing the rounds. An attendee died, 2 others in critical condition, and Trump millimetres from his own death. Yeah, totally sounds like something someone would approve of, no less someone leading the polls by a considerable margin and has nothing to gain by risking everything for this unecessary 'stunt'.

Some of you are no better than the Qanon conspiracists you look down on.

Looks like the shooter might have been a big Nick Fuentes guy. Would not be surprising if true.

Back in 2019 when Bernie Sanders did a rally in a city in Southern California, a few hours before the rally began, police blocked the roof level of a parking structure nearby. Probably because the parking structure was in the active security perimeter.
