Yesterday my computer's battery ran out of power and I think I selected safe mode for the restart of procedure. For some reason the only thing not working for me now is MSN Messenger, and when I try to log in it gives me the error message "Youre not able to sign in." It supposedly has to do with my firewall settings, however I have MSN allowed in my settings so it doesn't make any sense. When MSN runs the basic connectivity test everything is checked EXCEPT for "Hosts File," whatever that means. I can log in to MSN Web Browser but not my own MSN... makes no sense. Dell computers are fucking crap.

Any help would be appreciated.

..

Download an older version of MSN. It should be fine, if your not a fan of all the worthless new features.

I used trillion couple years back. It always used to mix my contact list with someone else's contact list, when other ppl used the program. It was terrible.

or use trillian or gaim or any other chatting clients out there...
Let me be the first to say. Gaim for Windows is an absolute piece of trash. First of all, crash happy as feck (couldn't even get it started last time), but also because its gnome integration features don't play well with Windows and make it look ill conceived (which we all know it is).

I don't have time to do that at the moment with upcoming exams. (Seriously.)

That won't work because I cannot access MSN messenger to obtain my contact lists in the first place.

Dell computers are fucking gay. For some reason my year reverted back to 2005. What the fuck, no wonder why nothing has been working for me.

That's probably why I can't sign in to anything.

Your contact list is not saved in MSN messenger itself, you will have no problem retrieving it if you use Trillian as a client. Trust me, it is much better than MSN messenger.

Actually it is not your Dell computer that caused the problem it is the virus of an operating system you are using :toast:

I assume the double negative was intentional? Reinstalling Windows is nothing but pain, particularly given the avtivation hoops you have to jump through these days.
