No it's not beta. It's pre v1 yes but already stable. Still has some problems (like bookmarks getting foobared, extension managemed less than smooth often) but I hope that will be fixed in time.

Michael Dickopf, spokesman for the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), has told the Berliner Zeitung that internet users should switch from Internet Explorer to Mozilla or Opera. Dickopf says Internet Explorer is hazard-prone, attracting too many viruses and worms. BSI already uses a combination of alternative browsers, Dickopf told the paper.

I have a quick Q for those of you with more experience in Mozilla..

I'm using Mozilla Version 1.5 and I'd like to update it. I heard that I may loose all the customizations that i've done (including all the little things and all the plug-ins like the mouse Gestures..etc.)

I don't want to update now then find out the hard way. So, Is this true? If it is, can I do something to prevent that?

If it requires more than 2 hours of work to get the new version DLed and the way i want it, then i don't think it's worth the update. I've too many things to do at this time...

AFAIK you have to do it the hard way, and there's no way to update your Moz without losing all your settings etc, which is why I'm not bothering to do so.

    how annoying, eh? :irritate:

After 8 months of being at this community I have finally set up Mozilla as my primary browser :D

I even did a business presentation about benefits of Mozilla at school!

Damn, I downloaded Mozilla, but I think I'll have to switch to Opera, coz I can't live without mouse wheel. You know, the scroll roller wthing when you click on the mouse wheel. :D

And which is better? Mozilla or Mozilla Firefox?
Much the same thing. Firefox is the Mozilla web browser, stripped of the email client, the html editor, etc. It's a little different, but not much. Expect to see any advantages Firefox accrues eventually migrate into the full Mozilla suite. If you just want the browser, Firefox is a smaller, faster programme.

BTW, I've got a problem for Martin, et al.

I've got a computer to myself in the projects lab here in college, so I downloaded Firefox onto it. I can't get the internet connection configured though. The IE on it has "Use an automatic configuration script" enabled, with a partucular proxy server's address in the field below it.

Firefox has two possibilities which might do the same thing. I'm not in the lab right now, so I'm going on memory here, but one's "Automatically detect settings" and the other lets me type in a number of proxy's addresses. The first didn't work, so I tried tying the proxy address from IE into to "html" form. This didn't work either, but there's a "Port" field too. I left that at zero. Is that right? If not, how do I find the port number for this proxy server?

If you need to use proxy for http, I imagine you have to input the settings in Firefox. Weird system you have though. The standard proxy port is 8080 I believe.

I've been using Mozilla for about 2 weeks, and so far I'm happy.

I don't see much difference with the new Netscape though, in terms of user friendliness.
