i thought it was great, but think about it, if i can identify with George, i can also identify with Larry David, they are basically the same character. i would not recommend watching more than 10 episodes in a row though
The thing is that Seinfeld was a masterpiece, an artwork. It wasn't JUST some guy's rambling acted out on a set. They hired writers, actors, they built sets. It's how you realize an idea that makes a difference, the idea alone isn't enough to make a good show.
So now what did they do with Curb? No written lines, just a script describing the scenes and improv. The actors? I don't know if they're just Larry's friends or what, but they were horrid. The one playing his wife included. And he's no actor either, he's just a really annoying man. No script, no actors. And no sets. Just a bunch of middle aged people who should probably be working or doing something slightly more rewarding with their lives walking around their (excuse the expression) disgustingly gigantic houses whining about minutiae. Nothing about that concept works.
Now, I love Larry. His ideas made Seinfeld. But they didn't put him in it, they hired excellent actors for it. And as much as I love his ideas put on tv, I don't want to see him in front of the camera. He's not a good actor.
And let's face it, the writing for Seinfeld was top notch. Some of the plots were ingenious. Can you honestly say that about Curb? No, it was just Larry's pet peeves the whole way. And great as he is, it's just not nearly enough to fill a show.
i am even slowly changing my wardrobe to look like Larry
