I don't like these movies anymore. First I say 28 Days and I thought that was pretty good, but this movie is like copying 75% of that one and filling in the rest. The plot just sucks, that ruins the whole thing. And what the f is with the pretentious idea that the whole world is destroyed except Britain? I expect that from Hollywood, but you'd think these mofos are a little less conceited.

Yeah I thought that's pretentious too, but hell, why shouldn't they if Hollywood can do it in just about every second film?
I don't think I've watched 28 days, refresh my memory.
Owen did good and Michael Caine was simply fantastic in a non-typical role for him.
Overall I think the film was very well made, great shooting, the colors were really dim and brought to life the atmosphere you would expect in a post-catastrophe world. I liked the way people were described, how shallow we really are, when we have nothing left the youngest man on earth becomes a celebrity and in the end gets killed because of it.
All in all I think the movie is very good, loved the "for your consideration ending" as well.

Not directly, but the atmosphere of the movie is practically identical. In both cases you have breakdown of society, world goes to hell, nutty protesters who take matters into their own hands, it's a variation on the same topic. And the difference being infertility (which is a far less believable scenario than a virus to begin with) rather than a plague.
So basically same deal, world is magically destroyed, just the reason is different.

Oh and for some reason the movie score was aaaaaaawful. You know there's something wrong when the music is so annoying that you're consciously aware of how bad it is.
Back to Owen, I looved him in Inside Man, he was some kind of larger than life character. When I saw him in this movie it was totally disillusioning, he was so lame. :/

That was his character, he was a clumsy-pussy politician or whatever. In the Inside Man, which I loved, he was the man, smart, intelligent, always one step ahead of everyone. Really good movie and Denzel was good as well. All in all a good plot though I've anticipated quite much of it while watching the movie, it still offered a good twist ending though.
And the main title song of the movie is awesome, something modern-arabic, don't know how it's called but it was great.

Children of men is a bit up and down, but I enjoyed it. I think it's a bit rich to criticise it for featuring Britain - it could be anywhere really, or for the distopian end of the world plot - that's been a staple of SF for decades. The cinematography is exellent, including some awesome one shots. Owen is fine, unless you insist that the lead actor should be some fantastically cool ubermann.
Didn't anybody hear me I said go watch Zodiac, the best movie I've seen in months!!!
Like I said, I've anticipated much of the film but it still offered something at the end that I didn't expect, for example the diamond that Owen slipped Denzel because he knew he was getting married. That was nice.
All in all I think it's a pretty good movie.

BTW, I just recommended Martin an umpteenth Paul Newman movie , The Sting, did you see it?

Yep, it was fantastic. I played the opening over and over again just to listen to it.
At the risk of upsetting people I will say that Hollywood movies have a polish that these Brit movies don't. I can't really pinpoint it, and it's probably a combination of things, like the music, the cinematography etc. Most of all, the plot has to be good, or it's just not worth seeing.
