Old Boy
Korean film, subtitled. Great movie. A guy gets randoimly abducted, and imprisoned for fifteen years. He doesn't know who did it or why. He's realeased without warning, and tracks down who imprisoned him, who then challenges him to find out the far more important question of why.

The fight scene in the corridore of his prison, in which Oh Dae-Su takes on a dozen or so men armed with lengths of timber, he himself having only a hammer, is the best I've ever seen.

Be warned, the twists at the end, while very unexpected, are quite disturbing - don't watch if you have a delicate moral sence. Otherwise a great film.

Gray, I never know Korean was such a great language for shouting threats in! :) Or maybe the guy who plays Oh Dae-Su is just that good an actor.
although all of my friends watched it, I haven't seen it yet.
maybe i cannot watch it till die:sigh: (I'm scared about that kind of movies )
but the actor of 'Oh Dae-su' is quite good actor.

After going for more cerebral Latin American films of late, I had to dive back in the dumpster sooner or later:

Viva Las Vegas
Elvis and Ann-Margret in their prime cheesiness. Minimal plot, Ann-Margret dances like she's an epileptic, Elvis cops an attitude, and the two of them play off each other with a great soundtrack.

Team America
As you would expect from the creators of South Park, it lives up to their standards of humor and offensiveness. Puppets are the perfect vehicle for this movie -- as animation would look to fake and not bring out a more visceral reaction to the sex and gore, and using humans would give it an NC-17/X rating. (Though I believe it did get an NC-17 rating at first, and they had to cut out scenes.) One of the best comical presentations of post-9/11 America I've yet seen. But some real stupid/annoying parts too.

Trees Lounge
Eight years old, but still works as a typical independent movie. Steve Buscemi's directorial debut starring a lot of future stars of The Sopranos. What's odd about this movie is that Steve Buscemi was later cast in Ghost World (the first half of which I thought was brilliantly hilarious), and a lot of this movie plays into the same character. Not a great movie, but a decent one about the complex picture of a small-town loser living in a world of low expectations ... just out of reach from the big city.

Most of his movies aren't really pure action. They've got violence in them, but I'd probably classify them as thriller/drama

Denzel movies are usually awesome; I didn't get to watch that one because of the missus :sob:
Dude, the plot was original and it was full of suspense. And Denzel rocked in that movie. You need to see it.

Denzel is one of the best actors of his generation. His lack of overt emotion, is more than made up for with that strong silent character he projects effortlessly.

Exactly. It's much more emotional to see Denzel with that solemn 'expressionless' face on than many other actors who try too hard to be expressive.

I just watched the Pixar animated whatever: The Incredibles.

Very Good :thumb:
I liked it a lot and I usually don't watch these kinds of movies in the theater.

I think it's a fantastic movie.. I didn't expect it to be that good either..

If you liked Mel Gibson's "Random," then you'll like "Man On Fire."

Man on fire - was that really so good? Trailer was not inviting at all, so I didnt plan to watch that movie...
It was absolutely brilliant. Maybe a bit violent for some people, but it kept me on the edge of my seat. Probably be the best movie I have seen this year other than the Last Samurai.
