I will watch that Serge, it looks like a hoot.

The King, the netflix movie was really good, but slightly dissapointed in Timothy Chamalet as the serious lead, while Robert Pattinson and Joel Edgerton as the supporting characters were amazing.
I wasn't overly impressed with Pattinson but he did have some entertaining moments.

Henry V turned into Tommy Shelby about half way through. Generally good film though.

I loved the way they talked; English sounds beautiful like that...

I'm not that familiar with that part of history, but apparently they butchered it.

I call it "Hollywood English", kind of middle English that is fairly nondescript. Most of it anyway, there were the typical gruff regional accents for minor characters.

You've got a Franco-American and an Aussie in the lead roles as Englishmen, and an Englishman playing a French prince. I think actors just like this aspect of the job, shows versatility. I watch a lot of American movies with British actors I don't even know are British because of their American accents.

I wasn't talking about the accents, but the sentence structure, the tone and intonations - the influence of Latin, it'a shame modern English has lost it.

Agincourt is an extremely famous battle in English history, along with the battle of Hastings, Trafalgar and Waterloo, it's one every kid learns at school.

For a start the longbowmen were all Welsh. There is a debatable bit of history that the "V sign" insult originates from them taunting the French with their draw fingers, but possibly myth. They also had to fight tooth and nail just to get to the point of Agincourt, rather than bombard a castle (the only really pointless part of the movie). The battle being fought in muddy conditions is correct.

Quite a bit of Shakespearean artistic license was used with Henry's character, but this is clearly deliberate.

The Irishman is coming up in two days on Netflix.

    Director: Martin Scorcese
Actors: Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci

You cant ask for more. 3h 25mins. I cant wait.

I loved Casino (95). If this movie is 50% as good as Casino then Ill be happy.
I am trying really hard not to raise my expectations too much. But really looking forward to it still.

Watched The Irishman, it's very good but definitely not better than Casino (and of course Goodfellas).
