Borja Valero has impressed since his arrival from Spain in the summer and remains the only player to have featured in all 23 league matches this season. The Real Madrid youth team graduate relocated to Florence for a fee of seven million euros from Villarreal after the club’s relegation last year. The Columbian international Cuadrado has also figured prominently, with 22 appearances to his name.
With ten yellow cards, the veteran Chilean midfielder, Pizarro, heads the tally for cautions. Roncaglia is close behind, having seen his name go in the book on eight occasions. Rodriguez and Aquilani remain the only Fiorentina players to be given their marching orders this season.
A series of summer acquisitions has produced a new look midfield for the Viola this campaign. Former Roma duo Aquilani and Pizarro pull the strings in the middle of the park, while Borja Valero provides the killer pass, illustrated by his position at the top of the team’s assists charts with eight so far this campaign.
The Bianconeri will need to remain alert to the goal threat posed by Jovetic and Toni. The young Montenegrin has scored nine times this season, while his Italian counterpart has found the back of the net on seven occasions. Roncaglia and El Hamdaoui lead the way in terms of goals on the road, with three apiece.
A run of just one point in four league games in January has seen Fiorentina drop out of the European places. The Viola currently sit in sixth position, just one point adrift of the Europa League spots, currently occupied by Milan and Inter.
