The kid was obviously not made to play at the top level mentally. Shame but move on. Better for everyone that he stays home and starts from the bottom to see if he can mature, then maybe he will have a career.

No point in lamenting our management of him, he refused to play.
Its a open door that his value will end a lot higher than 2m, bad business from our side

Should have had a sell on clause but other than that you aren't getting much money for a complete rebel who is homesick, and the teams who he could possibly join is very limited, as he isn't going to go from PSV to Juve to VVV Venlo. I'd imagine he wanted Ajax, maybe Feyenoord at a push.

Not interested in him tbh, he'll be a maverick and someone else's problem, Juve never found much time for players like this.

I mean this isn't the normal situation of us letting some young stud go for cheap.

He clearly had/has mental issues and if we kept him he would have just shutdown and retired or worse done something horrible.

It seems he was really depressed and even thought about quitting football entirely. Mostly due to his father passing.
Then moved to Amsterdam and met Gerald Vanenburg who helped him back on his feet and out of his head.
It has nothing to do with us, timing was just bad. Also the reason probably why psv didn’t care to sell him to us

AJAX CONFIRM ABSENCE OF JUVENTUS LOANEE IHATTAREN: ‘WE’RE ALL WORRIED’
Jul 27, 2022 14:57 - by Apollo Heyes - 1 Comment

Ajax technical director Gerry Hamstra confirmed that Juventus loanee Mohamed Ihattaren has taken a step away from football again.
The 20-year-old Dutch forward was signed by the Bianconeri in August 2021 from PSV and immediately loaned out to Sampdoria. Ihattaren struggled to adapt to the move, with the passing of his father in 2019 still heavily affecting him, and withdrew from the squad.
Juventus sent Ihattaren to Ajax on an 12-month loan spell back in January, hoping a return to the Netherlands would help him get his feet on the ground again. He made five appearances for the Ajax second team last season.
Hamstra confirmed Ihattaren’s absence ahead of Ajax’s friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk, underlining his and the club’s concern.
“Let me be clear that we are all worried about Mo. Of course we’re a football club, but some things go beyond football.
“As a club we are very committed to Mo and are in direct contact with him. We hope things will return to normal soon. We hope he will be back soon.”
