Gio-Quag was not an awful partnership. That just wasn't a partnership. 
They were both playing by their own when together, having no link-up play at all.
'Bout Vucinic's injury: feel sorry for the guy (even if this season as soon as he realized he wasn't a starter anymore he wanted to pack his bags and leave immediately, showing no attachment to a club who always made him feel important, even more than what he deserved, after 2 terrible seasons in Rome), but honestly I don't see how he could have been useful this season. He's shown a terrible form so far since the beginning of the season (he was so overhyped after the first 2 matchdays just cause we were excited about the new partnership with Tevez), and this injuries are just accompanying his dip in form. Even last season his contributing was a bit overrated, Conte made him play just cause he had some important link-up play with midfield characteristic (especially with Marchisio), but he's been really useful. This season not at all, and the fact that he has to come up from the bench doesn't help him at all, cause he's hardly focused and fails to make an impact in few minutes. I agree with those who say that we probably we won't get much from his exit next summer, and it's a pity, cause in last summer or in the last chance on January to swap him with Guarin, he had some market value (10-15 mln €).
