If we are going down this road, anything other than a loan with option (which we should pull a Bayern and not exercise) would be a catastrophe. Looking at our midfield, it's sad that even Pjanic will have an impact if he comes here.

He's not coming. Not because we couldn't milk Barfa here nor because of Pjanic's will but simply the reason is that the midfield is already overcrowded and there are too many high earners that Juve won't offload during this window.

Even if it made sense to take Pjanic for free, he won't play for pennies, that's for sure. Even offloading someone like Ramsey doesn't help much because nobody will take his full wages on their shoulders. He simply earns too much, so part of it would have to been paid by Juve. Plus Pjanic's wages on top of that.

Yeah, I can't see it happening. Juve take Locatelli and that Brazilian kid and then it will be outbound loans, maybe some lucky sale.

According to Tuttosport, Massimiliano Allegri has recently called Pjanic and asked him to join Juventus.
https://football-italia.net/juventus-transfer-news-allegri-calls-pjanic/

This feels so familiar, and yet so strange.
Familiar because a decade ago, one other player who played in the same position (Pirlo) was considered a "done player" after two really bad seasons in Milan, and then he was revived after he joined Juve. Strange because Allegri was the coach when Pirlo sucked, Pirlo was the coach when Pjanic left Juve, and Allegri is the coach who now wants Pjanic back.

Pjanic is no Pirlo. It's probable that he won't lift up a struggling team to a scudetto, the way Andrea did 10 years ago. But Allegri is 10 years wiser and he might have learned from a past mistake. It's gonna be quite the story if Pjanic joins and helps us win a scudetto after two years of sucking, the same way, or in a similar way Pirlo did it in the past.
I don't want to take anything from Pirlo during his period here, he was phenomenal, effective, spectacular. He is one of the main reasons for building the era. However, he had a brilliant midfield with him, all of which contributed in their own way. Who do we have now?
