He needs to be deployed as the 1 in a 4312, he's not got the attributes to play as a cm that's pretty obvious...

Ridiculous to slate him, he's not a box to box mid he's an attacking playmaker. Such a shame we didn't buy the right players to support him and Allegri keeps changing his role, how's he supposed to adjust?

Didn't he play as a CM at Roma?

He is better as CM then AM, some here just want change for the sake of it. He is lacking to take charge as CM wouldn't change much if was given more freedom as AM. It's more like how our midfield is set up, he needs an aggressive box to box midfield to baby sit him, and not slow ass Khedira.


Also he is better on the right then left, he moved to AM 2nd half but all he did with freedom was drift right and play excellent one twoes with Cuadrado.


He has his severe limitations as overall midfielder but they are more obvious when playing with Khedira and stuck on the left.


Bottom line is this guy is not a trequartista really. Not naturally speaking, he is a creative CM. The extra freedom would most likely make be bit more lost.

Yep, he goes missing in open play no matter what the set up, but his few moments style of creativity is better fit for more attacking team who makes lots of runs forward. His through balls high or low would be more useful then.

He's doing quite well actually. He is one of the stars of their team and plays several positions equally well. I don't think Liverpool is poachable arm though: they're an up and coming team with a hugely charismatic messianic coach and they don't lack money. I, my self, would love to get Coutinho.

its a shame that we arent getting FKs around the box in the CL. i cant seem to recall when was the last time we got a FK vs a top club in shooting range, the last one i remember was Pirlo vs Neuer in 2013
