I’m glad Pjanic has had a row with Sarri. If I was a player in that team at the moment I’d be having an argument with him as well.
His stupid rigid approach and one dimensional football is failing the club and the players
The system we play and role he is being asked to play is also a big part in his poor performances.
- He has run the 5th most km's in Serie A this season. You don't need to be a fitness coach to realise that doesn't suit him, he is not a Kante or Vidal type player with a big engine.
- The Sarri obsession of having a regista playing 125 passes or whatever is mindless but clearly something he is asked to do in his role.
- He is an instinctive player with a bit of fantasy about him, playing him as basically our 3rd deepest player is a waste. It worked perfectly for Pirlo but they are different players.
- Our slow build up play is giving teams the opportunity to have 11 men behind the ball giving less options to play passes to open teams up. Of course Pjanic could help his case by playing quicker but the system around him and the insistence on the short and frequent passing are factors.
- He played constantly pre lockdown and was never given a rest even when there were opportunities to do so. This links to my first point on his level of running. He was never going to be able to keep that up without getting injured or dropping performances. It was crazy to try it.
I actually think he had a good game vs Napoli, you could see what he was asked to do and he did it well. There is no doubt before that he has been poor and should take some blame but I don't think it as black and white as Pjanic doesn't care or is a poor player.
