Alex Sandro comes to mind :D

Another good example of a player that just isn't all he's cracked up to be.
Alex Sandro did however show that he one season was the best wingback in the game. He was truly phenomenal, a fucking monster. And this season he is among our best performers as well, even though he has gotten very unpopular. He is definetely not the first I would exchange. Besides we are pretty covered on both wingbacks. We have other issues to deal with.

He's obviously by far our best midfielder but I'm underwhelmed by this guy. We literally can't play without him but he's a 7/10 in a sea of 3/10s. For a pass specialist he sure likes to pick the easy backpass and everyone knows the fucking vegetables he's playing with won't be the ones to break the lines

Maybe he'd look like he did at Roma playing a bit further up with 2 competent midfielders next to him but I'd say he's comfortably 5th best compared to the old MVPP midfield we had. He's not untouchable and I'd rather get two midfielders suited to a 4-2-3-1 than persist with a 3 man midfield because it's the only thing he can cope with.
    But its not

Considering he was sick, Pjanic is not the one to blame for the result or the performance. He’s by far our only quality midfielder, the rest are a catastrophic bunch of average players, not worthy of this club. I wouldn’t even blame those for the performance, Allegri has so much to do with it, his tactics, his mentality, his player choices... nothing is encouraging. We don’t deserve the draw yesterday and if we keep playing with the same mentality, this CL will never return to Turin, sadly.

I know I came off as a major hater last year, but that was because I felt he was wrongly playing in Marchisio's position.

Lol idk why but I can see him winning the Balon D'or one day.
However at the second half of the 2016/17 season I truly rated him and saw him as a player who had potential to be the best midfielder on the planet.

Sadly he has not been able to regain that form, although I am very excited to see what he can accomplish under our next manager!

I am also curious to see what Pjanic can do under a different manager, but he needs new midfield partners more than anything else.

I actually feel bad for him, because we have surrounded him with mediocrity. I also think that is part of the reason why he’s stagnated.

That is very true. Imo the midfield in 2016-17 only held up due to the hard work of Cuadrado and Mandzukic, along with the inclusion of Dani Alves who at times was almost a 3rd cm.

Maybe because the trash around him stank up the place so much; but I didn’t think he was that bad on Wednesday, more so considering he had the flu. He had some nice set-plays (like the corner that Bonucci should have scored from) and he was the only midfielder who had any sort of poise on the ball and didnt look like he was about to crap his pants whenever an Atletico player came close to him (unlike guys like Bentancur). But as I said, the standard was set very low and I kinda expected him to look worse given his condition for the game.

He is capable of more I agree and if beside himself he had someone that doesnt need 10 odd touches to control the ball, Pjanic would look better out there. But this doesnt excuse him from being unfit to last entire game. I have no idea what his training regime is, but something aint right when in every game you are looking like you would collapse after 60 minutes.

i would sell if getting enough in return. he's a player with excellent technique but not that dynamic. he's like bernando silva and in a team like city, where you have the ball most of the game and you're spending most of the time in enemy's side, he would shine. he's not exactly our type of player we're looking currently, pogba and eriksen would be perfect but before selling him, i'd make sure we get rid rest of these so called middlefielders we have in our team.

agree that he is not dynamic and would sell, but if you consider that he is proven midfielder and knows the environment here it would be the dumbest thing you can do if we sell him. any other other incoming midfielder would need the adaptiation time. at the moment he is our midfield.
