Seedorf: I refused blood test Wednesday 23 March, 2005

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Clarence Seedorf has added to the doping scandal surrounding Milan by admitting he’s one of ten other Serie A players to refuse blood tests this season.

“I refused to take a blood test after our 2-1 win at Atalanta,” revealed the Rossoneri midfielder. “It was nothing out of the ordinary, as there is a choice and I chose not to give a blood sample.”

The media has been buzzing since the news that Gennaro Gattuso and Giuseppe Pancaro refused to give blood samples after their 2-0 win at Roma on Sunday evening. New rules state that all players selected must give urine samples, but blood tests are not compulsory.

Since the story broke, it has emerged that ten Serie A players also chose not to give blood samples for an anti-doping test during February and Seedorf admits he was one of them.

“I want to make it absolutely clear that I opted not to give blood because the urine sample can take a long time after you’ve played a match and are tired. I had the option not to take this test and took that option, but it doesn’t make my anti-doping test any less thorough.”

The fact that Milan’s stars were named and shamed in the Press prompted confusion amid the Rossoneri squad.

“I don’t understand how the fact that Gattuso and Pancaro said no could emerge in the first place,” continued the Dutchman. “There is a law to protect privacy in Italy and yet we are reading names and surnames of doctors. It’s all very strange.”

Teammate Andrea Pirlo also added to the anger and claimed there was an organised attempt to undermine the Serie A leaders.

“It’s very probable that there is a conspiracy against Milan at work here,” said the midfielder. “Certain things should be kept private and they were for other players. There is no scandal to discuss, as they were not obliged to take the tests.”

Gattuso later gave a blood sample at the Italy squad’s Coverciano training ground, claiming the conditions at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday were “unsanitary.”

Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro suggested a way to end this confusion over the new anti-doping tests once and for all. “If they were made to be obligatory for everyone, then that would clarify where all the players stand.”

better than inzaghi
what an idiot call to buy such an expired player
your right...Inzaghi was crucial in kick starting the end of the 2001-2002 season upon the return from injury.

Inzaghi was fundamental in finishing FIRST in TWO groups of deaths in the 2002-2003 CL season and sealing the Ajax victory in the last seconds.

Know your history you chump .

I guess Di Vaio was a much safer bet ... since he brought Juve so much success

First of all I didn’t insult u when I said Inzaghi is an expired player unless u consider yourself his lover

Second: i can call u a jackass but I really don’t think it’s an insult buzz when a jackass called a jackass there is no problem in that

Third: if u wanna talk about history and goal scoring lets start here
Zalayyeta scored 2 crucial goals against Barca 2003, and against real 2005 and tudor scored a last min crucia goal against Depor 2003, does this make them a great players or worth 25M u Id**

Fourth: selling DV was a big mistake I agree, but look at who has replaced him ,Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the future of Juve

Fifth:selling zidan (for 56M ,a record)and kicking out Ancelloti and Inzaghi was a bigger mistake but look at the titles we got directly after they lift 2 scudettos, one super when we kicked Milan’s A** and Berlusconi cup when we kicked Milan’s A** again and we reached the CL final when your lucky team won it by Penalty kicks

Listen boy u better not talk about history Bcuz its Juve who sculpts there name with the gold in it
27 scudettos and 9 coppa italia are enough titles to keep your a** sealed for the next 20 years, maybe longer if your team relegated again to the serie b

look who's back!

Zeman joins doping debate Friday 25 March, 2005

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gennaro Gattuso’s refusal to accept a blood test has brought Zdenek Zeman back into the doping debate, while the Prime Minister rushes to the midfielder’s aid.

“This is another killer blow for the fight against doping,” slammed the Lecce Coach. “If before the start of the season we had reached an agreement to give a new image to the sport, after this incident it has all been thrown back into a state of confusion.”

This week it was revealed that Milan duo Gattuso and Giuseppe Pancaro had refused to give blood for the random drug tests, although that element is not compulsory and they did go through the urine test as normal.

It later emerged that another 10 players had taken similar steps since the blood tests were introduced this season.

“I remember that it was said players who refused to take the blood tests would not be allowed to compete at international level for Italy,” added Zeman. “Evidently what was said before now has no worth whatsoever.”

Zeman sparked the doping debate in Italy several years ago when he cast aspersions over the amount of medical treatment that Juventus stars were given, effectively starting the investigation that eventually saw the club doctor found guilty.

However, Gattuso has pointed out that he refused the blood tests because the environment they were in was “unsanitary” and later took the examination at Italy’s Coverciano training ground.

“I can understand his refusal was aimed solely at changing the rules to make them compulsory,” insisted Milan President and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. “Besides, he has been randomly selected 16 times for a drug test and nobody likes having 16 injections.”

Italy teammate Gianluigi Buffon also rushed to Gattuso’s defence by revealing the effect the Juventus doping trial has had.

“Before the whole matter blew up, players blindly trusted the medical staff to do what was right,” explained the Bianconeri goalkeeper. “Now that has changed. As for Gattuso, if the blood tests are purely optional then why create all this fuss?”

Try to make sense I may respond to this sentence next time...for the time being I don't have time to decipher the grammar which would make a grade 1 teacher cringe and pull out her red pen.

GOD I didn't think you were this dense Doctor. Maybe you should take away the title doctor from your nick.
YOU STATED that Inzaghi was a terrible buy....in retrospect I showed and demonstrated to you how with Inzaghi as our striker he not only participated but played a crucial role in the re-bound AND saving our 2001-2002 season (his return from injury in Feb-March) thereby allowing us to get into CL for 2002-2003 and thereby winning CL...
He was indeed instrumental and was an incredible asset to us..your post indicated you started watching serie A this season and claim he was finished because of one injury plagued season. HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?
WHy would he be a terrible buy when he shined for 2 and half seasons and was injury prone only AFTER that time. Your theory makes no sense.....

AHHHAHAH you know what you are not even worth responding..a Juventino who knew his history and his Serie A would never put a Berlusconi cup and Suppercoppa in my face especially in a season when they lost the CL title to MILAN.
PLEASE...you would laughed out of Delle Alpi for that above statement you just made...you are an embarrasment to JUVENTINI....SUPERCOPPA :howler:

Stick to CRICKET or whatever

P.S. BUDDY: 27 scudettis and how many CL titles???

In answer to that last statement, I think Milan envy the number of Scudetti we have as much as we envy the number of CL titles they have.
