No, it's really not a coincidence. Some of the poorest areas of the country are the big cities. The cities with more gun control policies are generally more violent, such as Chicago and New York. People make it a race issue but it's really not considering black on black crime is the most prevelant.

Another important point to make is if I were to place in a trendline that would comprise an average of affirmative action, certain entitlement benefits, and charity money for impoverished areas, it would probably follow the black trendline albeit with a greater slope.

What's your point?

As you put it, one could think that you believe there's a correlation between gun control and crime rates.
Personally, I think there is. Like I posted a few pages ago, the Detroit Police has advised citizens to arm themselves, and they are linking that to the reduction in crime over the course of the last year. Obviously, most big cities will not give this a try, but if it's working in Detroit (four out of the top ten worst neighborhoods in the US) then it is bound to work elsewhere.

Chicago has a complete ban and their crime rate is exploding.

Maybe this is just the lily-livered, card-carrying liberal in me, but I would say that the levels of recent gun violence in Chicago aren't so much the chronic problem of local gun laws but rather has far more to do with the acute problem of Sinaloa cartels setting up drug distribution in Chicago.

Maybe so, but it's not only gang members getting killed.

Knife or not, can't they just shoot him in the leg?

That would be idiotic. If you want to take someone down, aim for the chest. It's the largest surface area which means chances of a hit are greater.
